The Flight C field is growing at a faster rate this afternoon with more new players taking part and the entry count is bursting. We are heading towards a 600-entry day at this rate and we’ve already put 1,600 in the field with registration open until the late hours of Saturday.

We caught two new faces in the crowd and seated right next to each other. Two-time WSOP bracelet winner Loni Harwood (with five WSOPC rings as well) grabbed a seat midway through Level 7 and joined fellow SHRP Hollywood regular Ricardo Eyzaguirre to her left.

ICYMI: Event 1 Goes Big; Gabriel Ramos Wins #6

Gabriel Ramos won his sixth SHRP Hollywood trophy

The opening day of the Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open was a big one and included the first two flights of the $1,000,000 guarantee Event 1 plus two one-day trophy events. The Event 1 turnout was huge but the big headline of the day came from the $200 Double Green Chip Bounty tournament.

Gabriel Ramos had his fair share of SHRP Hollywood hardware with five non-hold’em trophies coming into the day. He was unable to secure a deep run in the Limit Omaha 8 tournament, entered the bounty tournament, cruised to the final table, and picked up win number six after a four-way deal.

2018 Showdown – $360 Omaha 8/Stud 8
2018 SHRPO – $360 Big O
2019 LHPO – $360 Six-Max PLO
2019 Showdown – $360 Pot Limit Omaha 8
2019 SHRPO – $400 Omaha 8/Stud 8
2021 RRPO – $200 Double Green Chip Bounty

The win put him in a three-way tie with Brian Altman and Michael Newman for the second-most titles in our history behind David Prociak and Raminder Singh with seven.

David Prociak – 7 wins
Raminder Singh – 7 wins
Brian Altman – 6 wins
Gabriel Ramos – 6 wins
Michael Newman – 6 wins

Jay Kerbel won the Limit Omaha 8 title

While Ramos was winning it all at the bounty final table, Jay Kerbel was nearby working his way to a title in the $400 Limit Omaha 8 tournament. He earned the outright win after defeating Ziya Rahim heads-up for the title.

Kerbel took home $11,315 for the win and his first career Hollywood trophy.

John Spadavecchia

We kicked things off for the series with the first two flights of the $400 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em tournament. It has eight starting flights with a $1,000,000 guarantee and the players came out.

Flights A and B combined to put 1,031 entries into the tournament, the biggest starting day of this tournament in our history and we’re looking to break more records before the weekend is through.

WSOP bracelet winner John Spadavecchia bagged the biggest stack in Flight A but was topped by both Samuel Kim and Matias Morana in Flight B.

We had a total of 104 players book a seat for Day 2 on Sunday at 1 pm, in the money and set to go.

Julian Roldan

In a room full of chip stacks, our two biggest were as close as they could be without being tied. Our walk among the tables found Julian Roldan sitting with 77,900 and Brandon Berkenfeld only one black chip behind with 77,800.

There’s still a long way to go but these two have a jump on the rest fo the field.

Jeff Kessler

Tables are filling up as players wake up and make their way to the Grand Ballroom. The count is nearing 400 and we haven’t hit the afternoon yet.

We found two familiar faces in the crowd with some success with us. Jeff Kessler booked the biggest cash of his career when he finished third in the $1,000,000 guarantee opener for more than $100K. He also has a trophy from winning the 2013 RRPO Seniors Event.

That same year, Larry Klur went big in our first ever SHRPO $10,000,000 guarantee Championship. He went out on the final table bubble but took home a cool $116,350 consolation payout.

Event 4: Post Time for H.O.R.S.E.

$400 H.O.R.S.E. (Re-Entry)
Structure
Level 1:  150/300 Limits

We love to put plenty of non-hold’em games on the schedule and this series is no different. The popular H.O.R.S.E. mix game is running today and it will draw a talented crew. The $400 buy-in tournament rotates games between Limit Hold’em, Limit Omaha 8, Razz, Seven-Card Stud, and Seven-Card Stud 8.

The Event 4 champion will need to show skill in all five games to walk away with the title.

Players start with 12,000 stacks and all levels last 30 minutes. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30 pm and they have a dinner scheduled at 5:30 pm. They will return from the dinner break to play down to the final table and eventual H.O.R.S.E. champion.

Cards fly at 11 am and we will hit all the highlights along the way.

  • Players begin with 12,000 in chips
  • Levels last 30 minutes
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9 (3:30pm)

Event 1 Flight C: Another Big Day

$400 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 1:  100/100

The second day of the RRPO series is here and we can expect another big crowd in the Grand Ballroom after a great start to the series on Wednesday. The first two flights of Event 1 drew more than 1,000 entries and it should be even bigger today.

The $400 buy-in tournament has a $1,000,000 guarantee and eight starting flights. The first two put more than $340,000 towards that number and the seven-digit prize pool is a lock.

Players start with 20,000 deep stacks and all Day 1 levels last 30 minutes, going up to 40 minutes on Day 2. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 2:30 pm with unlimited re-entries options. Flight C will continue into the evening and come to an end when 10% of the field remains. Those players will advance to Day 2 on Sunday at 1 pm already in the money.

It will be a fun day in the Grand Ballroom and we look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.
