Blinds are up for Day 1A of the Championship and we have 400 runners/entries to put us nearly halfway to the $3,000,000 guarantee before the first break. Not too shabby.

More friends in the field include local legend Andy Slater, $10K Heads-Up champ Chance Kornuth, Neil Blumenfield, Ryan Hoenig, Darren Rabinowitz, Joe McKeehen, Francis Margaglione, and former WPT Poker Showdown champ Eric Afriat.

Hoenig is coming into the Championship on a heater; he has seven cashes so far with two runners-up and won three titles in three straight nights.

The Championship isn’t the only game in town today; we have to add more Omaha to the schedule. Today we have a $600 Eight-Handed Pot-Limit Omaha tournament at noon for those who like their poker with four cards and split pots.

Players start with 20K deep stacks and all levels last 30 minutes for the one day trophy event. Late registration and re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 4:30 pm. They have a 45-minute dinner break at 6:30 pm then play down to a champ.

The wait is over, today we kick off the 2024 WPT Poker Showdown Championship with Day 1A at 11 am in the Grand Ballroom. The $3,500 buy-in headliner has a huge $3,000,000 guaranteed prize pool and televised final table from Vegas.

Players start with 50,000 in their stacks and all levels last 60 minutes on Day 1 and 2. Levels increase to 90 minutes when 40 players remain and stay that way until six players remain. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 around 9:15 pm and players may re-enter as often as they wish during that time.

A heads-up deal was reached between the final two players and Charles Johnson was the chip leader at the time, making him the official Event 56 winner for $5,943.

The victory marked Ausmus’ second SHRP major series trophy, having previously won a six-max PLO event during the 2022 SHRPO.
