We found to regular players in our games, both with deep runs in recent tournaments. Tommy Bates, for head of the Seminolar Hard Rock Tampa Poker Room, played in their 2021 Tampa Winer Poker Open and finished 17th out of 772.

Level 4 came to an end and the entire Grand Ballroom emptied into the hallway. Every table is in use plus a handful across the way in the Meeting Room. No line, no waiting, just a lot of action.

Julio Rodriguez is the early frontrunner and his 112,300 put him as the only play in six-digit. Ryan Sullivan is the closest with 99,700 with a lot of players trying to catch both.

It was a near-lock that we’d see John Binns in today’s PLO8 field, he can pull off a unique accomplishment with a win.

Binns took home the trophy from the $400 version of this tournament last Saturday and followed that up with a $600 Limit Omaha 8 title on Thursday. Today he goes for his third trophy of the series and fifth overall.

In our history, only two players have won three tournaments in the same series; Julio Fernandez  (2012 Showdown) and Atanael Thomas (2012 RRPO).

Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30 pm and players may re-enter a single time if they go bust. They will take a 40-minute dinner break at 5:30 pm and return to play down to our next Showdown champ.

We are well into the weekend and we expect a huge crowd in the Grand Ballroom throughout the day with the last two flights of Showdown Event 15. The tournament already attracted 2,392 entries over four starting flights, the $1,000,000 guarantee was already surpassed, and today we take aim at $2,000,000.

Players start with 20,000 deep stacks and all Day 1 levels last 30 minutes. Levels increase to 40 minutes on Day 2 and 60 when the tournament reaches the last three tables. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 2:30 pm.

Flight E will play to the last 10% of the field and survivors will bag their chips for a Day 2 return tomorrow at 1 pm in the money.
