Flight C is about halfway through Level 8 and time is running out if this is what you want to play. They will take a break at 2:15 pm and registration will close when they return. But fear not, there is another flight tonight at 6 pm and two more tomorrow.

A few more regulars took their seats including Rafael Lima, Nigel Murray, and Scott Levitt.

$500,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 7:  300/600 with a 600 ante
Flight C Entries:  524

With plenty of time to spare this afternoon and three more flights to go, Poker Showdown Event 1 officially surpassed its $500,000 guarantee and now every new entry will build it bigger as we stare at another possible $1,000,000 plus prize pool.

Registration remains open for a little more than an hour with Flight D running this evening at 6 pm.

Event 3: Half a Hundred Near Break

$400 H.O.R.S.E. (Single Re-Entry)
Structure
Level 4:  300/600 Limits
Entries:  50

Yuval Bronshtein

The H.O.R.S.E. tournament hit 50 entries as it nears the first break and they are building a nice field with late registration available for another two hours (plus break times).

Yuval Bronshtein is shooting for his sixth trophy in a little more than  year. He won his first during the 2021 Lucky Hearts Poker Open and won four more over the next year. In addition to those wins, he picked up his second WSOP bracelet in October.

While all of Bronshtein’s wins are in non-NLH games, Anthony Askey has his top scores in the no limit hold’em tournaments. But the Tampa regular is in the Meeting Room playing H.O.R.S.E. this afternoon instead of Event 1 and having a good time.

Event 1 Flight C: Roni Zelichonok Leads After Break

$400 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$500,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 5:  200/400 with a 400 ante
Flight C Entries:  426

Roni Zelichonok

Players are back in their seats after the first break with 425 entries and Roni Zelichonok leading the field. The $500,000 guarantee is on the near horizon and they should get there before registration closed.

Zelichonok made the most of his first four levels of his day and his stack of 109,300 is the only one over 100K. That’s a good start but there’s a long way to go.

Event 3: Early Start

$400 H.O.R.S.E. (Single Re-Entry)
Structure
Level 2:  200/400 Limits
Entries:  32

Fabian Foster

There’s a nice group of players in the Meeting Room across the hall, riding some H.O.R.S.E. action and it’s pretty relaxed at the start with quarter chips in play and not much pressure.

We found Fabian Foster switching up from his normal no limit hold’em game for the second day in a row after he played the Limit Omaha 8 tournament yesterday. Poker pro Amnon Filippi is also here early and his biggest result came in this mixed game; he finished fourth in the 2007 WSOP $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship for $586K.

Event 1 Flight C: Filling In the Field

$400 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
$500,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 3:  100/200 with a 200 ante
Flight C Entries:  332

Antonio Campbell

The Grand Ballroom is filling fast and the entry count jumped over 300 well before we hit high noon. The $500,000 guarantee is all but locked up and it’s going to be a big one.

Two more early arrivals included Antonio Campbell and Frank Russo. Both players already own major SHR Hollywood trophies but wouldn’t mind adding this one.

Event 3: First Mixed Game

$400 H.O.R.S.E. (Single Re-Entry)
Structure
Level 1:  150/300 Limits

Another day, another non-hold’em game for our friends who prefer them. Today we have a $400 H.O.R.S.E. tournament and the first of many mix games on the schedule. They will rotate between Limit Hold’em, Limit Omaha 8, Razz, Stud, and Stud 8 every eight hands.

Players start with 12,000 stacks and all levels last 30 minutes. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30 pm and players may re-enter once if they lose their stack. They’ll take a 40-minute dinner break at 5 pm and return to play down to our H.O.R.S.E. champ later this evening.

Cards go in the air at 11 am and we will be here with them from start to finish.

  • Players begin with 12,000 in chips
  • Levels last 30 minutes
  • Late registration until start of Level 9 (3:30pm)
  • This is a one-day tournament and plays until completion

Fernando Rodriguez

We found a lot of familiar faces in the early crowd, getting in the action before the slow risers get moving and down to the Grand Ballroom.

Fernando Rodriguez, Jay Romano, Marty Robbins, Jeff Kessler, and Eric and Caleb Piderit are among those here in the morning and not waiting until the afternoon.

Rodriguez is looking for his second trophy of the week; our 2021 LHPO Event 1 champ won the last trophy of the recent Tampa Poker Classic series on the gulf shore.

Cards are in the air for Flight C of Poker Showdown Event 1 with 160 entries at the start. That tops what we had to start the first two flights so we’re looking at another big number this afternoon.
