Event 5 Day 1E: Akbasli Continues Heater

$150 No Limit Hold’em Re-Entry
Level 14: 1,200/2,400 with a 400 ante
Flight 1E Entries: 381
Players Remaining: 38

On a flop of Ad5h4h, the big blind gets all in for about 110,000 against Ty Akbasli on the button. Akbasli shows AsKd, but needs to fade a lot of cards against the big blind’s Ah8h.

The turn is the 10d and the river is the Qd to keep Akbasli’s hand in the lead and eliminate the big blind. Akbasli nears 400,000 and has a massive chip lead with only a few minutes left in this flight.

Ty Akbasli – 385,000

Event 5 Day 1E: Ty Akbasli Leading the Way

$150 No Limit Hold’em Re-Entry
Level 12: 800/1,600 with a 200 ante
Flight 1E Entries: 381

Ty Akbasli
Ty Akbasli

On a flop of 8c4c2d, the big blind checks and Ory Hen bets 7,500 from middle position. Ty Akbasli calls from the cutoff and the big blind calls as well.

The turn is the Ac and action checks to Akbasli, who bets 12,500. The big blind calls and Hen folds. The river is the 3s and the big blind bets 25,000. Akbasli bets enough to put the big blind all in and the big blind quickly calls, he is all in for about 40,000 total.

Akbasli tables Kc3c, good for the nut flush and he drags the pot against the big blind’s 7s5h, giving him a straight.

Akbasli eliminates a player just as they head on their last break of the night. He is the chip leader of the flight with about an hour left of play.

Ty Akbasli – 268,000

Event 5 Day 1F: Zo Karim Off to a Good Start

Zo Karim
Zo Karim

Zo Karim is on the button and gets into a preflop battle against the player in the cutoff. After a few raises, the cutoff moves all in for about 4,000 and Karim calls.

Karim shows AhQc and has his opponent’s As3s dominated. The Qd comes on the flop and leaves his opponent drawing thin. Karim has him drawing dead on the turn and sends him home with about 15 minutes before their first break of the day.

Karim takes the pot and has more than tripled his starting stack in the first two hours of the day.

Zo Karim – 31,500

Event 5 Day 1E: Ory Hen Can’t Top King-High, Still a Big Stack

$150 No Limit Hold’em Re-Entry
Level 9: 400/800 with a 100 ante
Flight 1E Entries: 381
Players Remaining: 117

Ory Hen
Ory Hen

There is a limp under-the-gun and Ory Hen limps in from the cutoff. The button raises to 2,800. The first limper and Hen both call and they are three-handed to a flop of 6s4d3c.

Action checks to the button, who bets 3,500. Under-the-gun folds and Hen calls. The turn is the 9c and both players check.

The river is the 3s and both players check again. The button shows KsQs, good for king-high, and drags the pot against Hen’s 8d7s.

“I knew you didn’t have anything,” said Hen after the hand.

Hen loses the pot, but is still very healthy in chips. He is fresh off of a final table appearance in the $1,100 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max, where he was part of a four-way chop. He took home a third place finish and $17,000.

Ory Hen – 79,000
