The flop read Qc6s4c when Loni Harwood bet 2,100 under the gun. The cutoff raised to 5,100 and the big blind folded. Harwood called after thinking for a few moments and the two remaining players saw the 9h delivered on the turn.

Harwood checked and the cutoff bet 4,000. Harwood called and the 7d fell on the river. Harwood checked again and the cutoff bet 7,400. Harwood called and she flipped over pocket kings. The cutoff mucked his cards and Harwood stacked up 57,500 after the hand.

Championship Day 1: Wearing it Well

Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship (Freeze-Out)
Level 4: 200/400/50 Ante

South Florida was well represented this summer in Las Vegas during the World Series of Poker with several bracelets, big scores, and a potential WSOP Player of the Year award.

No result was more enthusiastically received by fellow Floridians than Jacquelyn Scott’s first time at the WSOP payout desk. She had only played the Main Event in the past but took a shot at the Ladies Championship.

And won it all for her first WSOP tournament cash.

Scott is a regular in Seminole Hard Rock Poker events and joins fellow local Marsha Wolak as WSOP Ladies champions.

Championship Day 1: Spelling Champion

Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship (Freeze-Out)
Level 3: 150/300/50 Ante

There are plenty of brilliant minds in the ballroom and champions along with them. Pratyush Buddiga has one of the more interesting stories combining the two.

Buddiga wasn’t old enough to step foot in a casino when he had his first taste of fame on a big stage. He found himself standing by himself in front of a national TV audience and using his big brain to impress on the way to winning the 2002 Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Now 13 years later, Buddiga is a successful poker player with nearly $4 million in career earnings.
