Event 1 Day 1C: Final Break Time

$100 + $25 No Limit Hold’Em Deep Stack

The field hit the final three tables just minutes before the end of the 12th level and the remaining players are on their final break of the day. Play will tighten up over the last two levels as the big stacks stay away from each other and will wait to pick off the smaller stacks when they can manage.

Player return to Level 13 with blinds at 1k/2k/200 ante and 64,814 average stack.

Event 1 Day 1C: Cracking Aces

$100 + $25 No Limit Hold’Em Deep Stack

It wasn’t the first time it happened and it won’t be the last, but it seemed a little brutal when victim was a kind lady who’s been having nothing but fun. She was 7-seat and called all-in after the 9-seat three-bet shoved his short stack. Her AhAc had a great chance to pick up a KO when the 9-seat showed KdQd.

Being polite himself, he stood up and began shaking her hand after the 9c9s3d flop and was almost wearing his coat when Tc hit the turn. He sat right back while apologizing, and she graciously accepted, after the gutshot river Js.

Aces get cracked, it’s just part of the game. But rarely does it happen this late in a tournament without a big trash talker or a bitter loser in the mix. Both are a credit to the room.

Just 34 players remain on Day 1C as they head into Level 12 and 800/1.6k/200 ante. They will break after when the level is complete and return for one more hour of play.

Event 1 Day 1C: Hits Keep Coming

$100 + $25 No Limit Hold’Em Deep Stack

After a nice recent run of the best pre-flop hand winning, Table 37 dealt a big beat in a three-way all-in pot. The hand did not give us another double knockout but it put two players on the ropes. The chips were in the middle after the big blind folded, claiming to be pocket Nines, when the three players tabled AsKc against AdKs who were looking at a likely chop against AhQh.

Instead of hitting his miracle Queen to stay alive, the 8-seat hit the 8h6h4h flop hit just as he asked to lock up the hand, disregarding miracle perfect running straight flush cards, and the table laughed when he managed to hit the useless Qd on the turn.

The two bigger stacks chopped up the side pot but both were short and sent out in short order.

Level 10 is underway with blinds at 500/1k/100 ante and 45 players remaining.

Event 1 Day 1C: Level 9 Underway

$100 + $25 No Limit Hold’Em Deep Stack

Players are back from their break and two clear chipleaders were found after the color up process, easy enough to find in the small field in addition to them both sitting across from each other at the same table.

Frank Traino, double knockout winner from a previous posts, is sitting in the 2-seat at Table 35 with 125,000 while Johnny Miller leads the field from the 8-seat with 135,000. Miller had  a big final table 7th place finish during the 2013 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Event #7 $1,000,000 Guarantee event in August.

The remaining players are in Level 9 with blinds at 400/800/100 ante.

Event 1 Day 1C: No Slowing Down

$100 + $25 No Limit Hold’Em Deep Stack

The players seem to have a lot more gamble in them today compared to yesterday’s action and even veteran staff are left scratching their heads. The field has been reduced to just seven tables remaining with half the scheduled day to complete.

Multiple double KO’s have a lot to with the rapid parade to the rail and Table 35 provided another. The pre-flop was complete when we saw the action with 3H3C versus QSJC and ACJS. The 2-seat hit the biggest part of the ASJH3D flop, leaving the QSJC looking for Broadway while ACJS was all but drawing dead needing a runner-runner miracle.

The 8C turn ended the 8-seat’s day and another double knockout was complete on the blank 9C river.

Players are now on Level 8 with 300/600/75 blinds and only 63 of the starting 175 remaining for an average stack of 27,777 (46 big blinds)

Event 1 Day 1C: Gamble to Win

$100 + $25 No Limit Hold’Em Deep Stack

“You have to gamble to win!” said the 3-seat on Table 31.

Several times.

He had every right to be happy and excited and stacking chips after knocking out two opponents as Level 5 was coming to an end.

Our hero in the 3-seat called an early position raise before the button responded by shoving in his small stack. The big blind took his time before reshoving and the 3-seat asked for a count. He called before a complete count was done when he realized he had both players covered only to see his 4s4c was behind the button’s QdQh and ahead of the big blind’s AcQc.

It looked like the short-stack was going to get a much needed triple up when the flop came out Jd9d3d and the Th on the turn did not change the situation. “Holy (expletive), did I just win that?”, the 3-seat said when the two-out 4h hit the river. He then educated the table “You have to gamble to win!” and started stacking chips.

Only 90 players remain of the starting 175 entrants as they move into Level 7 with blinds at 250/500/50 ante and average moving closer to 20,000.

Event 1 Day 1C: Black Cat Luck and Distractions

$100 + $25 No Limit Hold’Em Deep Stack

Level 3 began with 120 players and they continue to push the action with just one hour left before closing re-entries. Where several tables were used in the cash game area for the early field on Day 1A, most of the players have been recycling through the upstairs tables with multiple entries.

While there have been a lot of knockouts, few of them have been of the bad beat variety causing people to raise their voice. One gentleman was unhappy with, in his words, “black cat luck” after a hand but that didn’t let it stop him from adding money to the prizepool.

Players usually don’t want to hear their opponent say, “I’m just trying to bust my stack so I can re-enter” when facing an all-in with a superior hand. The superstitious among them think it invites bad results. The 6-seat at Table 40 made that exact comment after tabling his AcJs against the 8-seat’s AhKs. They were holding similar sized stacks when the flop brought the bad luck board of JcTd6c and the 8-seat was sent the cage shortly after no help on the 9h turn or 4d river.

Blinds are up to 100/200 as they enter Level 4, the last for late registrations and re-entries.
