Event 10 Day 1E: Back to Defend

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 6: 200/400/50 Ante

The entrant count is getting close to passing our biggest flight from this event in 2014. Last year the Saturday morning flight drew 669 entrants and we just crossed 650 in the middle of Level 6. It seems a sure thing we’ll get over it before registration closes at 3:30pm.

Another face spotted in the crowd is Riley Fuller. He was the last player standing last year in this tournament last August when he defeated Adam Rouse heads up for the title and nearly $240,000. Fuller has cashed more than a dozen times since his victory including a final table in the $1,100 Turbo this spring during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown.

Event 10 Day 1E: Sessions Out Front

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 5: 150/300/25 Ante

It took a little longer than normal to get players back in their seats but Flight 1E is back underway while closing in on 600 entrants.

Richard Sessions is the early leader after four levels but there are four players not far behind with all of them over 60,000.

Event 10 Day 1E: Teitelbaum Heater

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 4: 100/200

“Get a a pic of Teitlebaum with chips!”

That’s what Evan Teitelbaum yelled across the room as we scanned for stories.

While it is true that Teitelbaum has chips in Event 10, closing in on 60k, that is not an extraordinary thing despite his joke. He already has one final table this series plus a victory in the version of this event during the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open.

We won’t be surprised if we see him run deep again.

Event 10 Day 1E: Packed Room

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 2: 50/100

It’s going to be a huge day in the ballroom. The entrant count clicked over 350 shortly after the start of the second level with more players coming in and tables opening.

We’re within shouting distance of reaching the $1,000,000 guarantee before the first break and everything after will balloon that number.

Another player in today’s field can only do one spot better than he did in this event last summer. Adam Rouse is sitting in the middle of the room trying to grind his way back to a big score. He made it all the way down to the final table, climbed the payouts, before losing the heads up battle to Riley Fuller for the title.

The only way Rouse can better his result is to walk away the trophy and what should be around $250,000.

Event 10 Day 1E: Angel and the Kevmath

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 2: 50/100

We have two players in their first tournament of the series, both are legends of different sorts.

Kevin “Kevmath” Mathers was once believed to be some mythical online bot with unlimited access to the information of the poker world. Turns out it was just a talented guy with a quick Google trigger finger for anything he didn’t already know off the top of his head. He’s back in the ballroom after playing a few events last summer.

Angel Vu has a well documented story here. She began working in a nail salon, became a chip runner in a poker room, moved into the box as a dealer, and then turned into a player who succeeded at almost every Seminole Hard Rock Poker Series in 2014. Vu earned Player of the Year honors with two tournament wins, six final tables, and one big trophy.

Event 10 Day 1E: Final Flights

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50

The weekend is well underway with a full casino and ballroom as witnessed by the Event 10 crowd yesterday. A total of 839 entrants piled into the tournament over two Friday flights to put us very close to moving past the $1,000,000 guarantee before they even start the final flight at 6pm.

The first flight is about to go and just 431 entrants are needed to move into the seven-digit prize pool area. We’ll have plenty of players in the ballroom today to get us there.

They will start with 20,000 stacks and play 30-minute levels throughout the day. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 and play will conclude at the end of Level 14.

Tournament staff are doing the daily reading of the rules and cards will be in the air shortly.

Event 10 Day 1D: Play Ends, Mahmut Urkun Leads Flight

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1,200/2,400/400 Ante

A very competitive finish to tonight’s Day 1D has come to a close and Mahmut Urkun managed to bring home the chip lead for the flight.

Urkun finished with 284,000 chips leading the way.  He was followed by Charles Simon bagging 253,000.  Josh Hillick went from in deep trouble to deep in chips ending up with 216,000.

Also putting up strong numbers were Samuel Moreira bagging 196,500, Rublan Dukshteyn with 193,500 and Quinn Bruno with 182,500.

Overall, 94 players escaped a wild Day 1D bringing the number of players who have advanced to Day 2 up to 296.  The flight tallied 437 entries taking the overall total to 1,559.

With the $1,000,000 guarantee in sight, tomorrow’s flights should bring some exciting action.  Flight 1E begins at 11 AM while Flight 1F gets underway at 6 PM.  For those who advance, Day 2 will kick off at 1 PM on Sunday.

Congratulations to all of our players who advanced to Day 2!

Event 10 Day 1D: Down To The Wire

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1,200/2,400/400 Ante

As we get deeper into our final level tonight, our number of players is dropping quickly as we’ve shot down to 108 players left.   Daniel Buzgon and Robert Campbell are among this group still looking to bag up chips tonight along with Charles Simon and Mahmut Urkun who are trying to finish tonight’s flight out in front.

It’s anyone’s ball game as we close things out here on Day 1D.
