Event 6: David Diaz Flirting With Seven Figures Now

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 23: 10,000/20,000 with 3,000 Ante
Players Remaining: 29 of 807

Action folded around to the blinds where Rob Cowen raised to 52,000 from the small and David Diaz defended his big.

The flop was Qh8s4s. Cowen checked, Diaz bet 35,000, and Cowen called. The turn was the Qs, and Cowen checked again. Diaz leaned forward to study Cowen’s remaining stack for a moment, then checked behind. The river was the 4h, and Cowen checked for a third time. Diaz leaned forward to examine once again, this time more carefully, then bet 175,000 — almost exactly half of Cowen’s remaining stack. Cowen spent a long while in the tank, at one point trying to engage Diaz in some chatter, to which there was no response other than a brief smirk. After a couple more minutes of wriggling, Cowen called to see a showdown.

Diaz tabled Qd2d, winning the pot with queens full. He’s essentially doubled up in the half level since returning from dinner, now among the leaders as he flirts with the seven-figure mark.

David Diaz – 980,000 (49 bb)

Event 6: David Diaz Moves Up After Dinner

Level 23: 10,000/20,000 with 3,000 Ante
Players Remaining: 35 of 807

The field is just returning from dinner, and David Diaz wasted no time finding a chip increase. A player in front of him open-shoved for about 190,000 from middle position, and Diaz re-shoved from the cutoff to put his opponent at risk.

Diaz: TsTc
Opponent: 6x8x

Diaz promptly flopped a set on the Th6d5d, and the at-risk player could not catch up. Diaz won the pot, thinning the field by one in the process.

David Diaz – 765,000 (38 bb)
