Event 6 Flight B: Checking on the Team

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 12: 800/1,600 with a 200 Ante
Players Remaining: 45 of 158

The small remaining field is stacked with familiar faces, including four members of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Team.

Michael Laake is the businessman of the bunch, sitting quietly with sunglasses on and sharing a studious table with Marc Stein and Marc Levy, among others. Laake has about 80,000 chips at the moment.

In contrast, Darryll Fish is part of a much livelier group at an adjacent table that features himself, Ryan Van Sanford, and the chatty T.K. Miles, who is the life of the party and the most talkative player in the room. There is laughter and red wine flowing freely at that table, and Fish’s stack currently sits just under 100,000 chips.

Two tables over is Wally Maddah, who is sharing space with John Holley and David Jackson. He’s chosen a different approach than Miles. Maddah appears to be the least chatty player left in the room, sitting behind dark sunglasses, headphones over his ears, enjoying a bit of a massage. The plan is working out well so far, as Maddah currently sits well above the chip average with about 120,000.

Jessica Dawley is showing those guys how it’s done at the moment, though. She’s sitting behind a stack of about 145,000 chips, putting her near the top of the leaderboard as the end of the day approaches. She’s just polished off a little late-night snack and had a quick visit from Daniel Negreanu before returning to some friendly banter at a table that includes Evan Teitelbaum, Jake Schwartz, and Brett Bader.

Siddiqui ran his stack deep into the record-setting Event 1 field before bowing out in 91st place late in the day, a fine finish deep in a tournament that drew 5,018 entrants.

Eli Levy (left) versus Neil Blumenfield (right)

Event 6 players are having trouble moving this morning but they are starting to arrive in a steady stream as we get closer to the afternoon hours. We have 74 entrants in the game after the first level and we’re seeing more players enter.

Eli Levy (playing against 2015 November Niner Neil Blumenfield in the picture above) is here looking for his fifth SHRP title. Levy is working on his own version of a grand slam with titles in three of our four major tournament festivals. The only series title he’s missing is a big Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open win but that will have to wait until next August.
