The Flight C field continues to shrink at a steady rate and has one more empty seat in a battle of past Seminole Hard Rock Poker champions.
Victor Figueroa was all-in and at risk with when Charlemagne Benjamin called with . The flop was no help to Figueroa but he picked up a flush draw on the turn. No love on the river and he was eliminated short of bagging.
Benjamin has two SHR Poker title with the latest coming a few months ago during the Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open. Figueroa’s sole SHR Poker trophy was a bigger one; he captured the Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” Championship in 2012 for more than $100,000.

Alan Dobrow (Melville, NY)
Alan Dobrow was inquiring about the big stacks in the room a few minutes ago, and his stack of close to 200,000 was the leader at the time. Seemingly not content with that count, he’s just extended that lead thanks to another knockout pot.
On a flop, Dobrow’s heads-up opponent ended up all in for about 40,000 with a flush draw. Dobrow put him to the test with for two pair, and his opponent’s had some catching up to do. The turn opened up some more outs, but the river sent the pot to Dobrow.
The New York native finished as the runner-up in the first big re-entry event of this series, and he’s looking to make another deep run in the second, as well. Dobrow is sitting as the clear chip leader with about four levels left in the day.

Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi
Registration closed for the third flight of the $1 Million Guarantee Event 9 with 491 entrants creating the biggest opening session of the tournament. That puts the tournament up to 1,204 entrants, well on pace to top the guarantee and last year’s count of 2,474.
One of our late arrivals was Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi and his $14.7 million in career earnings. That would be enough cash to put him atop the list of Florida-based players if it wasn’t for Mr. Jason Mercier.
“The Grinder” owns three WSOP bracelets, two WPT titles, one WPTDeepstack trophy, and five cashes over $1 million.

Luis Santoni led with 125,000 chips on the first break, but he’s slipped back into the pack just a bit, sitting with about 80,000. His tablemate, Sheddy Siddiqui, has taken over the top spot on the leaderboard, though he and the rest of the room have yet to climb past Santoni’s early high-water mark.

Asher Conniff (Brooklyn, NY)
We have another top player joining us for a weekend of $1 Million Guarantee fun. Asher Conniff is the reigning WPT World Champion after taking down the tour’s final event last season at the Borgata. He famously misclick entered an online satellite into the $15,000 buy-in tournament, won his seat, and then beat the rest of the field. All this happened a two weeks after he won the opening event that series, earning nearly $1 million in those two tournaments.
Conniff is part of the ever-expanding field today as they are set to hit the second break of the day. Tournament staff will color off the quarter chips and registration will close when they return.

Bill Gazes
The field is still growing rapidly as Level 7 ticks off the clock, and one of the recent entries is a bit of a blast from the past.
Bill Gazes was a fixture of televised poker broadcasts during the mid-2000s, including some of the more memorable off-the-felt segments involving prop betting and feats of physical prowess. Or lack thereof, to be more specific. Gazes’ name might be most commonly associated with a comedically poor field goal attempt during the 2007 WSOP broadcast.
Gazes is much more revered for his accomplishments on the felt than on the gridiron, though. He’s earned more than $2.3 million in his live tournament career, including appearances at seven WSOP final tables and two WPT final tables. Gazes hasn’t recorded a live result since 2011, but he’s in attendance for this Day 1C flight trying to break that dry spell.
He’s up to his old tricks, too. In the most recent hand, three players limped into the pot for 500 apiece, and Gazes squeezed in a raise to 2,800 from the cutoff. Everyone folded in turn, and Gazes stacked the uncontested pot to inch back over starting stack.
