Michelle Shah (Delray Beach, FL)
Michelle Shah (Delray Beach, FL)

Michelle Shah was quietly grinding her Flight E stack when she ran into a big blind defender. She opened to 1,300 and her opponent called from the big blind to see the AsKs9h flop.

He check/called 2,050 from Shah to the 4h turn and he checked again. Shaha threw out all her non-5K chips for 2,800 and he check/raised to 8,000. Shah announced all-in for 25,000 and he gave it a lot of thought.

He eventually called and showed his flopped two pair Kd9c to put Shah in trouble with AcJc. She had eight saving outs but none appeared on the Qc river to send her out.

The field picked up a nice number of players while they were mingling in the lobby. Event 10 is only a handful of entries away from hitting seven-digit territory and everyone is watching the clock.

Flight E players are getting ready to hit their first break of the day as they approach 450 entrants in the morning session.

Joe Serock and his $3 million in career earnings took a seat during this level and joined SHRP team member Cate Hall’s table. Not a lot of fun for the other players there.

They’ll take their break at the top of the hour and return to play four more levels with late registration/re-entry open.

Event 10 Day 1E: DeVivo Doubles; Still Working

$570 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 3: 75/150 with a 25 ante
Total 1E Entries: 380

Richard DeVivo (Phoenixville, PA)
Richard DeVivo (Phoenixville, PA)

Richard DeVivo’s day hasn’t gone very well but he still has skin in the game. His kings were cracked early by tens to leave him short.

DeVivo picked up a needed double when he called a min-raise from the small blind then got his chips in the middle with the board reading JdTc9hTs. His opponent called with AsKs and DeVivo’s trip tens Td6s needed to dodge four queens.

The river blanked Ah and DeVivo doubled up to 7,000.

“One more double and I’ll have a 15,000 stack,” DeVivo joked.

That would still be under a starting stack but a positive direction.

The entrant count quickly jumped over 300 during the second level and new tables are filling at a nice clip.

Two Seminole Hard Rock Poker team members are in the game before noon. Sheddy Siddiqui and Cate Hall took seats at adjoining tables in the second level with more expected before we close down registration.

Harrison Gimble (Jupiter, FL)
Harrison Gimble (Jupiter, FL)

It’s pretty clear from the early numbers that this will be the biggest flight so far in Event 10. By a long shot.

Over 250 entrants were in the game when they rolled out the second level of the day and it’s looking like we’ll pop the guarantee before we even have to think about the last flight at 6pm.

While a lot of pros wait late to register, Harrison Gimbel was here at the start. The WPT and PCA champ took his seat at the front of the room while others were still wandering down to the registration desk.
