Robert Mizrachi

The Mizrachi family knows a little something about playing successful poker. Robert and Michael sit in the top five on the Florida all-time money list with seven WSOP bracelets and two WPT titles between them.

Also, the four Mizrachi brothers (along with Eric and Donny) once famously cashed in the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event.

Robert is here early and we expect to see Michael before the end of the day. Robert picked up a SHRPO trophy in the 2013 Dealer’s Choice game and Michael is the only player to make every World Poker Tour Tournament of Champions final table (there have been two).

Abdelouahed Bouanani

Championship players returned to their seats after a quick respite and they are back under in Level 3 with nearly 200 entries in early action.

Players sat down to 30,000 starting stacks and only one player in the entire field ran that up over 100,000. Former Seminole Hard Rock Showdown champ Abdelouahed Bouanani pushed his stack up to 117,000 after two hours of work, easily the early leader.

He has some tough players not far behind including 2013 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Poker Open Championship fourth-place finisher Ray Qartomy, 2016 SHRP Player of the Year David Prociak, and 2015 RRPO Championship final table member Dylan Drazen sitting in the top ten.

Top ten stacks:

  1. Abdelouahed Bouanani – 117,000 (780 bb)
  2. Ray Qartomy – 94,000 (627 bb)
  3. Michael Johnson – 83,000 (553 bb)
  4. David Prociak – 78,000 (520 bb)
  5. Salim Salem – 72,500 (483 bb)

Flight A of the Championship made it through the first two levels of the day and players are now on a 15-minute break from the tables. Seminole Hard Rock Poker team member Matt Stout took his seat in the middle of Level 2 and cruising right along.

We’ll take a walk among the tables while they are gone and try to identify our early leaders.

Darryll Fish

The Championship field is filling in as the afternoon moves forward and we located a couple Seminole Hard Rock Poker team members in before the first break.

Both Darryll Fish and Matt Affleck jumped into the game in Level 1 to maximize their time at the table and trying to run up their stack. We have other team members in the building, including Matt Stout, Jared Jaffee, and Mukul Pahuja, but they are biding their time before getting involved.

Pasquale Caiazza

We put eight preliminary events in the books before rolling out the Championship event and we awarded some nice cash along the way. SHRP Pasquale Caiazza didn’t take home a trophy yet but he booked a cash that rates among the top so far.

Caiazza made the final table of Ultimate Re-Entry event, finishing seventh of 3,570 entries, and earned a piece of the +$1 million prize pool. He was part of a seven-way deal that saw him take home more than $50,000, one of the top payouts of the series so far.

A lot of players are in today’s Championship for a discounted price after winning a satellite seat. But no one is here for a cheaper price than Sami Aziz.

He picked up his spot courtesy of the “Win a Seat” promotion last week and made his way over to the ballroom for his shot at freerolling a major title.

Keep an eye on SHRPO.com early next week for the launch of the 2018 Lucky Hearts Poker Open Championship “Win a Seat” promotion.

Martin Carnero

We have a nice crowd already this afternoon and some tough players are taking a seat. While we have yet to find any former champs in the field, we did track down Martin Carnero who made the 2015 RRPO Championship final table.

It was a tough draw and he had to deal with Marvin Rettenmaier, Nipun Java, Dylan Drazen, soon-to-be SHRP Player of the Year David Prociak, and SHRP team member Jessica Dawley in front of the Poker Night of America cameras with fellow team member Matt Stout bubbling the televised final table in tenth. Carnero finished in fourth place for $166,682 with Jake Bazeley eventually finishing as the 2015 RRPO Champion.

Championship Day 1A: Kicking Off the Championship

$3,500 RRPO Championship (Re-Entry)
$2,000,000 Guarantee | Structure
Level 1: 50/100

After a week of play in the Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, it’s time to get down to the business of finding our next major champion.

The Championship has a $3,500 buy-in and features a $2 Million Guarantee. The stacks are deep and the structure is slow, plenty of room to move in the biggest event on the RRPO schedule. There are two starting flights with the first kicking off at noon today and the second will mirror this one.

Entrants will start with 30,000 in their stacks and play hour-long levels on the first two days. Those levels will switch 90-minute levels on Day 3 and 4 to continue the long, slow Championship structure. Late registration and re-entries are available until the start of Level 7 at 8pm following the 90-minute dinner break.

Their day will come to an end after Level 10 and all survivors will bag up their chips and return for Day 2 on Sunday.

We are about to get underway in the ballroom and we will work our way towards crowning the next RRPO champion.

  • $2,000,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
  • Players begin with 30,000 in chips and 60-minute levels
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 7
  • Day 1 will end after Level 10 or Tournament Director discretion
