The entry count continues to snowball with another 90 hitting the game in the last 30 minutes. We staring down 600 entries before too long and they are really piling on the prize pool.

Even with all the stacks spread throughout the room, it was easy enough to find the biggest. Michel Dubreuil has a seat in the front of the room with a stack out front with nearly a full barrel of 5K chips. He’s more than quintuple his 20,000 starting stack over the first two hours for a nice start to his day.

Flight E players are heading out of the ballroom on their first break of the day with 470 entries in the game so far. That clears last night’s count of 452 to make it the biggest flight of the tournament so far with more time in Flight E and Flight F running at 6pm.

Flight E continues to push the numbers higher and hit 400 entries well before the first break. Next stop is getting the prize pool to $700,000 but we have some time to wait for that.

Rafael Reis is making his first appearance of the series and knows a little something about running through big, multi-day fields. Reis already owned a Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” title from the 1,250-entry $570 tournament in 2014 when he took part in the opening event of the 2017 RRPO.

That tournament drew a Florida-record crowd of 5,018 and Reis walked away with the trophy along with more than $150,000.

We were pretty confident the entry count would hit 310 before the first but didn’t realize it was going to get there before the first hour was complete. That 310th entry put the combined total for Event 1 at 2,000 to push the prize pool up to $600,000.

A fine number with room to grown.

Tampa regular Karl Manouchakian is back in action today and trying to duplicate his success on this side of the state. While Manouchakian has plenty of big results on the gulf coast, including a first and second place finish last summer during the WPTDeepStacks Seminole Hard Rock Tampa series, but he’s still looking for his first final table appearance here.

Event 1 Flight E: We are Underway

Flight E Entries: 230

Flight E kicked off right on schedule after a few instructions and we have a huge early crowd in the penultimate starting session. More than 200 entrants were here at the start and another 30 entries kicked up the prize pool soon after.

That puts Flight E on pace to easily become the biggest of the starting days so far. They should hit 2,000 combined entries before the first break to put the prize pool at $600,000.

Jay Romano is among the early players in the game and looking for his first SHRP cash since last year’s Showdown. The former Lucky Hearts Black Chip Bounty champ has put up results elsewhere but his last big one came here last April when he finished third in the $570 Six-Max event.

The weekend is upon us and it’s time for the final two starting flights of the opening tournament. Event 1 has a $360 buy-in with a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool and the big number was matched last night.

With a combined total of 1,690 entries over the first four flights, the prize pool topped $500,000 with all day Saturday to run it higher.

Each flight has produced a new overall chip leader and Jason Ehlen leads the pack with a very healthy 346,500 sitting in a bag. We expect two more nice crowds to round out the tournament and we’ll track to see if anyone can catch him.

All entrants sit down to 20,000 deep stacks and play 30-minute levels throughout Day 1. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30pm and they will play down until the end of Level 14. Those with chips will bag them up for a return tomorrow at 1pm for Day 2.

Players are taking their seats, cards will fly at the top of the hour.

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood Property Update

Preparations are underway for the development of an iconic hotel tower and resort:

Parking – Poker players are encouraged to park in Winner’s Way Garage to access both the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown tournament space and The Poker Room

The Poker Room – Players may access the poker room by entering through the main lobby or via the exterior entrance on the opposite end of Winner’s Way Garage.

Inside hotel – Services and amenities inside the hotel will remain open along with regularly scheduled events and entertainment.

Players have logged their final three hands of Flight D and play has officially concluded for the evening. The clock shows an unofficial 83 advancing with Jason Ehlen bagging the chip lead. With well over 300,000 chips, not only did Ehlen top Flight D, but it appears he’ll top the overall counts with just two start days remaining.
