Bryn Kenney appears to have opened to 3,000 in early position, and Scott Blumstein re-raised to 7,400 in the cutoff. Kenney called.

The flop was 9c4d2d. Kenny checked, Blumstein continued for 7,000, and Kenney called.

The turn was the 2s, and Kenney check-called another 12,000.

The river was the Qh. When Kenney checked again, Blumstein moved all in with the larger stack. Kenny had about 55,000 chips left in front of him, and he deliberated for a couple minutes before waving the white flag.

Blumstein won the pot with no showdown.

Scott Blumstein – 123,000 (154 bb)
Bryn Kenney – 55,000 (69 bb)

High Roller: Nick Schulman Off to Hot Start, Ari Engel Not So Much

2017 SHRPO Super High Roller champ Nick Schulman has picked up right where he left off — winning! In fact, he’s currently sitting with nearly twice the starting stack. Meanwhile, it’s been a rough level for Ari Engel, who has less than half what he started with.

In a recent hand, Matt Glantz opened for 2,000  under the gun and Jonathan Jaffe called one spot over. Engel then three-bet to 7,100 from the button before Schulman four-bet to 25,000 from the big blind.

Both Glantz and Jaffe hurriedly folded and Engel, who was sitting with around 33,000 back, debated what to do. Eventually he settled on a fold and sent his cards to the muck.

Nick Schulman – 195,000 (244 bb)
Ari Engel – 33,000  (41 bb)

High Roller: Niall Farrell vs. Matt Glantz

Niall Farrell

The table in the far corner of the room is, like the others, short-handed to start play.

In an early pot, Niall Farrell opened the button to 1,800, and Matt Glantz three-bet to 5,300 in the big blind. Farrell called.

The flop was Ac6d2s. Glantz continued for 4,200, and Farrell called. Both players checked through the Ts turn, and the river was the 3s. Glantz checked, Farrell bet 5,500, and Glantz called.

“Flush,” Farrell announced, showing 5s6s to prove it. He won the pot, which provided an opportunity for us to notice that he’s already put himself in a bit of a hole this afternoon.

Each player starts with two T25,000 chips to make up half of their 100,000-chip starting stack. Farrell has lost both of his already, and the four in front of Nick Schulman seem to indicate he was the culprit.

Ari Engel and Jonathan Jaffe are also a part of that table.

Niall Farrell – 43,000 (54 bb)
Matt Glantz – 91,000 (114 bb)

Marvin Rettenmaier, Big 4 High Roller defending champ

The last of the Big 4 events is set to kick off and it will be a big one. The High Roller event will have a smaller field but not one lacking for talent.

The $25,500 buy-in tournament has a $2 Million Guarantee, second biggest of the series behind only the Championship, and it will attract some of the best players in the world. Last year’s champion, two-time WPT champ Marvin Rettenmaier, had to go through 105 entries to get to the title including a tough, long final table.

We expect Rettenmaier back to defend and a room full of great poker.

Players will start with 100,000 stacks and play 40-minute levels throughout the opening day. Those levels will switch to 60 minutes on the final table tomorrow afternoon. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 10 at 7:30 p.m. following the dinner break. They are scheduled to play down to the final table eight to be played out tomorrow in the Hard Rock Live Arena in front of the live-streamed cameras.

It is a busy day in SHRPO land and the High Roller will push up big numbers.

The Big 4 Satellite Schedule

We’re still in the first weekend of the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open but it’s never too late to start thinking about The Big 4 events coming up. Four tournaments with combined guaranteed prize pools worth $6.5 million and all four final tables played at the same time in front cameras.

Now players can begin to look at ways to get into any of these events at a discount via a solid schedule of satellites. The biggest group of satellites can be found on August 10 when 36 combined seats in five satellites are guaranteed into the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship.

All told, the satellites combine for 47 Championship seats, three High Roller seats, five $1 Million Guaranteed Freeze-Out, and four $1,100/$500K seats offered up between now and August 13.

And those numbers don’t include the two Multi-Events satellites which will reward packages that include a $2,650 seat, a $1,100 seat, and $1,250 in cash.

There is something for everyone, bookmark or save the date for the satellite which fits your needs. Below you can find the satellite schedule for each event and a link to the structure sheets.
