David Peters

Ivan Luca opened the button to 16,000, and David Peters three-bet shoved for about 180,000 in the small blind. As soon as Jake Schindler folded his big, Luca called. Peters winced just a bit, knowing he was likely in trouble.

Luca: AcKs
Peters: As6c

The board ran out 3s2d2cKd8d, and Luca turned kings up to end the drama one card early. Peters was eliminated in sixth place on the final hand of the night.

The five finalists are now bagging up their chips for the overnight soak, set to return to action Wednesday at 12 p.m.

Event 9: Brian England Wins $1,100 Turbo

Entries: 102
Prize Pool: $102,000
August 8, 2017

Brain England, the 28-year-old online pro from Hazlet NJ is our $1,100 Turbo winner. It was a whirlwind final table with the bust outs coming fast and furious. Barry Hutter, the eventual runner-up and our winner Brian England took turns eliminating all their opponents.

The first two eliminations, Andrew Dean (10th place) and Keith Morrow (9th place) were at the hands of Hutter. Gavin O’Rourke was eliminated in 8th place by England. Then Hutter knocked out the next three opponents to get it down to the final four players.

England swiftly took out Charbel Azzi in fourth, and Hutter got it to heads up when he cracked Jose Reyes’s pocket jacks with ace seven. It appeared Hutter’s luck ran out when his pocket queens couldn’t hold against England’s king nine for the final hand of the tournament.

This was Brian England’s first tournament this series as he just got into town this morning. He traveled here from Costa Rica with his three-year-old son Benjamin and girlfriend Shirley. This is the second time England has been to Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. He came here last April for the first time, “I love it here, the tournaments are run so well, when I came in April I said to myself I want to play all the future Hard Rock tournaments.”

England mentioned how his son doesn’t think he’s worth anything unless he brings home the trophy “It’s better than the money to him! He doesn’t care how much I win, but if I come back with the trophy he’s happy.”

It was pretty smooth sailing for England during the day, he got down low quickly but managed to spin it up and win his all ins. “I had the best hand most of the time, except that last one”

“It’s a good start to the series, I’m looking forward to the next week and a half it should be fun” Good luck Brian!

Nick Schulman

After a long period of relative inactivity, things are suddenly happening quickly at the table. We missed Chance Kornuth’s elimination while we were writing a previous hand, but it looks like Nick Schulman was responsible for the knockout.

While that one was being posted, Schulman and Bryn Kenney tangled in another big pot. The board showed 8c5h3c5s5c on the end, and Schulman bet 125,000 into a pot of about that much. Kenney eventually called, and Schulman showed him AhAc to win the pot.

Schulman is starting to open up a gap on the field, sitting with more than a third of the total chips in play.

Nick Schulman – 820,000 (103 bb)
Bryn Kenney – 190,000 (24 bb)

Nick Schulman completed from the small blind, and Bryn Kenney checked his option in the big.

The flop was 8s4c3s, and Schulman bet 10,000. Kenney called, and they both checked through the 7d turn. The river was the Ad. Schulman bet 28,000, and Kenney called.

Schulman made a motion to surrender, but Kenney wouldn’t let him. He waited patiently until Schulman rolled over Jc9c, then tabled 3d5d to win the pot with a pair of threes.

“Don’t ever try to bluff Bryn Kenney,” Chance Kornuth admonished.

Bryn Kenney – 400,000 (50 bb)
Nick Schulman – 515,000 (64 bb)

Chance Kornuth opened to 15,000 in middle position, and Bryn Kenney defended his big blind.

The flop was 5s4h3s. Kenney checked, Kornuth continued for 18,000, and Kenney called.

The turn was the 5c, and Kenny check-called another 43,000, leaving himself less than a pot-sized bet behind.

The river was the Ad, and Kenney checked for a third time. Kornuth bet 119,000 effective, enough to cover his opponent. Kenny considered the call for his tournament life for several minutes before committing the last of his chips to the pot.

“Good call,” Kornuth said, turning over Kd9c.

Kenney showed Ah4s, winning the pot with aces up to double up.

Bryn Kenney – 400,000 (67 bb)
