Cory Waaland

We expect to see a lot of WSOP Circuit heroes over the next two weeks and we have two of the biggest winners in the field today. One local and one traveler with 15 rings between them.

Ari Engel is a regular in SHRP events and the added bonus of having a WSOP Circuit stop was sure to have him back. Engel owns eight and at one point held the record for most WSOPC wins.

Cory Waaland sits one behind Engel with seven WSOP Circuit titles of his own, good enough for top ten overall.

Neither has picked up WSOPC jewelry since March 2016, maybe this is the event that moves them up one spot.

Russell Sullivan

The Six-Max event climbed over 100 entries as players prepared for their first break of the day. They are spread throughout the back of the ballroom and the short-handed tables seem plenty active.

Russell Sullivan and Ricardo Eyzaguirred grabbed their seats in the game and are joined together at the same table. As WSOP Circuit regulars, they have spent other table-time together and yesterday they each went deep in the opening event.

There were 1,612 entries in that tournament and Eyzaguirre made it down to 36th place and Sullivan went out in 24th. Each fell short of winning their second WSOP Circuit ring but this event might be the one.
