Dion Jagroo

The Deep Stack Poker Series structure is so deep that it will take an extra day of poker to determine the Event 1 champion. Nearly 15 hours after they began Day 2 of the tournament, there were still eight players around with a chance to take home the trophy.

Dion Jagroo held the lead for most of the late night levels and returns with a huge lead over the rest of the table. But with the 90-minute levels and deep stacks, it is still anyone’s game.

They’ll get back underway 2pm in the poker room and will keep playing until we crown our Event 1 champ.

Bill Farnan

Action folded around to Dion Jagroo in the small blind and he put in a big stack of 100K chips, enough to cover the short-stacked Bill Farnan in the big blind. Farnan quickly called at risk for 1,245,000 with the much better hand.

Jagroo: 9d2c
Farnan: Ah9h

Farnan was in great shape and picked up his needed double after the Ts8h5sQs4h run out.

Event 1: Dion Jagroo Versus Svi Soudai

Players Remaining: 8 of 1,045

Dion Jagroo opened to 160,000 from the hijack to get calls from Seth Gilson on the button and Svi Soudai in the big blind to the KsTc7d flop.

Soudai checked, Jagroo bet 200,000 and Gilson called. Soudai pulled a check/raise to 700,000 and Jagroo called after a minute’s thought. Gilson thought about coming along as well but mucked.

Both players checked the 5h turn and Soudai checked the Kd river. Jagroo took another minute to cut out 800,000 and Soudai quickly called.

Jagroo: AhKc
Soudai: Kh9h

Both had trip kings but kickers played to push Jagroo further into the lead.

Dion Jagroo – 10,600,000 (133 bb)
Svi Soudai – 3,200,000 (40 bb)

There’s been very little action since Andre Rakusa was eliminated. Most pots are taken down with an open, maybe a three-bet preflop, but few flops have been spread. Dion Jagroo continued to build his lead while Bill Farnan and Lou Stadler make the occasional short-stack shove that gets through.

Updated approximate counts:

Seat 1: Seth Gilson – 2,300,000 (29 bb)
Seat 2: Daniel Silva – 3,250,000 (41 bb)

Andre Rakusa

Andre Rakusa was the shortest stack to start the final table, laddered up a payout after Gabe Sack’s cooler, and put his chips in the middle against Daniel Silva soon after.

Rakusa: KhQd
Silva: 9d9h

It was another race and the dealer gave no help to Rakusa as the board ran out ThTd8d4hJd for two quick eliminations at the final table.

Daniel Silva – 4,200,000 (53 bb)
Andre Rakusa – Eliminated in 9th place ($6,256)

Event 1: Gabe Sack – 10th Place ($4,255)

Level 25: 30,000/60,000 with a 60,000 ante
Players Remaining: 9 of 1,045

Gabe Sack

It was going to take two big hands to get a big pot at the start of the final table, and that’s what happened. It took four bets to get the chips in the middle but the end result was Gabe Sack all in for his entire 2,000,000-ish stack with JsJh smack into Dion Jagroo’s AcAh.

A tough spot and Sack could not find a save on the 4s2s2c5sTd board.

Dion Jagroo – 6,100,000 (102 bb)
Gabe Sack – Eliminated in 10th place ($4,255)

Zyad Qasem

Bill Farnan opened to 175,000 from the button and Zyad Qasem moved all in from the big blind for 1,040,000 and Farnan quickly called.

Farnan: KcKs
Qasem: 4h4s

Qasem’s small pair needed a miracle against the kings but he found nothing on the Th6c3cAhAd to exit in 11th place.

Tournament staff paused the clock to redraw seats at the ten-handed final table.

Bill Farnan – 2,000,000 (33 bb)
Zyad Qasem – Eliminated in 11th place ($3,695)
