John Magnetta

They have plenty of play today with the 60-minute levels but we continue to see stacks growing as the afternoon wears on. John Magnetta is the most recent to jump up the counts with 925,000.

And good luck Table 30. They already had to deal with Roberto Bendeck and Anthony Moran sitting side-by-side, now they have chip leader Oliver Berens on the other side of the table. That is a lot of chips in one place.

Blinds are up and they are an hour away from another break.

Michael Newman

It was three-ways to the 9c8s3c flop between Zyad Qasem, Svi Soudai, and Michael Newman sitting on the button. Qasem and Soudai checked and both called 31,000 from Newman.

Qasem checked the Ad turn, Soudai bet 85,000 and Newman raised to 200,000. Qasem released and Soudai called after a minute’s thought. Both players checked the 4h river and Newman was good with As9s to take the big pot.

Michael Newman – 978,000 (122 bb)
Svi Soudai – 810,000 (101 bb)

Stewart Newman

The money bubble hit right as the blinds went up and the tournament went into hand-for-hand mode. It didn’t take long to burst that bubble.

On one table, Stewart Newman was all in for 59,000 against Fred Dabus after the 7s4h2s flop. Dabus called and they held up the action while the rest of the tables finished their action.

On the neighboring table, Barton Taylor put Jacobo Fernandez all in with the board reading AcKdQhAd and Fernandez called at risk. The rest of the tables completed their hands and both tables ran out the boards.

Newman was ahead with top set 7c7d against Dabus’ flush draw KsQs. The 6d turn was safe for Newman but Dabus filled his flush on the Js river to send Newman out.

Fernandez was in trouble against Taylor with AsJd dominated by QcQd and Fernandez had seven river outs to stay in the game. The 7d river was a blank and Fernandez was sent out as well.

Newman and Fernandez chopped up 100th place money and each collected $308.

Wally Maddah

The money bubble is close and it took a cooler to get Wally Maddah to give up his chips. He moved all in with his short stack holding pocket kings and he ran into the big blind’s monster with pocket aces. He couldn’t catch a miracle and we are now four spots from the money.

Event 1: Zyad Qasem Moving Up

Zyad Qasem

There are a lot of chips on Table 34, sitting side-by-side.

Svi Soudai bagged the lead in Flight B and now he has to deal with Zyad Qasem on his right. He began the day with 367,000 but now he’s up to 920,000 and looks like the chip leader with Seth Weinberg dipping a bit.

After a fast start, the quick parade of eliminations slowed as the money bubble gets close.

Charlemagne Benjamin with his Day 2 re-entry stack

Cards are in the air for Day 2 of Event 1 and registration is now closed. We had 33 players enter the tournament before action kicked off to push the combined total of entries to 1,045. Tournament staff are crunching the numbers and we will have the payout information as soon as it is available.

SHRP regular Charlemagne Benjamin was one of those taking the late re-entry option and sat down with 30,000. But it was not to be, Benjamin caught AhTh on the first hand and lost a race against pocket sixes to bust in a hurry.
