Matt Yorra took a seat in this afternoon’s flight with a chance to make a little history. The SHRP regular has a tournament victory in each of our major series in 2018 and can make it three series in a row over the next two weeks.

Yorra opened his year with a win in the $570 Big Stack event during the Lucky Hearts Poker Open and followed that up with a $570 Six-Max title during the Poker Showdown.

We can find only two other players with a win in three straight series; both Michael Newman and former SHRP Player of the Year David Prociak accomplished that feat in 2016/2017.

The Flight C entry count moved over 400 after the break and it is now the biggest of the tournament so far. That record may not last long with three huge flights remaining.

Sean Shah is taking his Event 1 shot today only a few days removed from his latest poker victory. He was in the poker room last week and took down the Monday Night Big Stack $20K Guarantee tournament for $6,800 plus a seat in the $2,650 SHRPO Big 4 tournament. Shah owns two SHRP major titles, both coming in 2012, from the Coco Poker Showdown and the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown.

The Hard Rock Event Center is quickly filling up and we hit our first milestone number late in Level 2. SHRP regular Michael Damiani is one of the early entrants today and the recent new poppa is trying to take home a trophy while adding some big cash to a college fund.

Mitchil Tabasky is off to a flying start this morning. We missed the action getting the chips in the middle but Tabasky had his opponent at risk for 15,000 after a flop.

Tabasky’s opponent flopped a set with but he went better with the flopped Broadway straight holding . He avoided the comeback full house on the turn and to take a huge early pot moving him up to 45,000.

The 2018 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open is rolling into the first weekend after a successful start to the series on Thursday. The $570 buy-in Event 1 kicked things off with a $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool and we already have 742 entries in the game after the first two flights.

Today’s middle two sessions will put us on the verge of hitting the magic 2,000 entry number well before registration closes on the tournament late Saturday evening. A great start to the series.

Event 1 players sit down to 20,000 starting stacks and all Day 1 levels last 30 minutes. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30pm with unlimited re-entries available during that time if a player should lose their stack. Flight C will conclude at the end of Level 14 and all survivors will return on Sunday for Day 2 along with the 113 players who advanced yesterday.
