The third level of the day rolled around and the field is one away from hitting 200 before the first break. There’s still plenty of time to make your way to the Seminole Ballroom to take part in the $1,000,000 guaranteed WPTDeepStacks Hollywood opening event.

One of those players is our returning champion. Jason Young captured the first major SHRP title of 2019 and a $263,205 payday for winning the WPTDeepStacks Hollywood Main Event. That title pushed him to win the SHRP Player of the Year title and he still leads the WPTDeepStack Player of the Year race for their current season.

The tournament tables are filling in and more players are joining the big opening LHPO event with 159 here so far.

One of the seats is occupied by a former WPTDeepStacks Hollywood champion. The last time we bookended LHPO with a WPTDeepStacks and WPT tournament, Scott Baumstein captured the first big trophy of the series. He earned $220,238 for conquering the 1,366-entry field and that title also earned him the WPTDeepStacks Player of the Year award.

The clock hit 11 am and Tournament Manager Jason Heidenthal put cards in the air for the WPTDeepStacks tournament to start the 2020 Lucky Hearts Poker Open.

They will play through three 40-minute levels before the first break of the day.

The 2020 Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open is here and we are kicking things off with a huge WPTDeepStacks Hollywood event. The $1,100 buy-in tournament has a $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool with three starting flights and traditionally the biggest tournament on the tour’s schedule.

The first flight starts this morning at 11 am in the Seminole Ballroom with another tomorrow and the last one on Saturday. Those who bag up their chips will return on Sunday for Day 2 and play down to the final table.

Players will start with 30,000 stacks and all levels will last for 40 minutes until they increase to 60 minutes at the final table. Late registration is available until 6:30 pm after the dinner break and players are limited to a single re-entry per flight should they bust out.

Action will continue today through 15 levels and those with chips will advance to Day 2.

The LHPO series is bookended by a WPTDeepStacks event at the beginning and the WPT LHPO Championship at the end, a great way to start your 2020 poker calendar.
