Ricardo Eyzaguirre seems to be a chip magnet in this room. Another tournament and it looks like he’s the leader again with 640,000. Kyle Proctor is not far behind holding 630,000 with Hector Pacheco (600,000), Vinny Monteiro (558,000) and Matthew Zarcadoolas (510,000) also sporting some big stacks.

Jay Klitzner

With the money bubble lurking, the field was one elimination away from going into hand-for-hand mode. But Jay Klitzner took care of business and burst the bubble on his own with one hand.

There were 140 players remaining when he found himself with pocket jacks and two short stacks took a stand. The three-way pot saw his jacks hold against Ax9x and AxQx to send both players out, put the rest of the field in the money, and eliminate the need for hand-for-hand.

After a minute delay to get new entries seated, cards went back in the air for Day 2. The initial count looks like we had 29 new entries overnight and this morning to push the combined total over 1,100.

Once the accounting is complete, we will post the official numbers along with prize pool and payout information.

Event 1 of the 2021 May Deep Stack Poker Series had a big turnout and drew 1,073 entries over the three starting flights. That was good enough to more than triple the $100,000 guarantee for a healthy prize pool.

And they aren’t done yet.

Registration remains open for the tournament until Day 2 kicks off at noon so we’ll get a few more in the game before they get underway.

Anto Slisko put together the biggest bag in Flight A and his lead held after the last two flights. He is the only player over 500K with Santiago Betancur, Jermaine “Lion” Gerlin, Anthony Maffeo, and Joshua Phillips rounding out the top five counts.

Blind levels are now 60 minutes each and will remain that way until Level 27 when they go up to 90 minutes. They will have a dinner break around 6:25 pm and continue playing into the evening.

Cards go in the air at noon when registration will close and we will have our official prize pool and payout information.

It will be a fun, long day of poker and we’ll be here from start to finish.
