The 2025 May Deep Stack Poker Series Main Event was a $1,700 Deepest Stack No-Limit Hold’em tournament with 257 entries and Hollywood poker legend Michael Newman added to his trophy count. At the end of a long Day 2, he earned $61,530 in a four-way deal.

The great turnout over Memorial Day weekend turned the $300,000 guarantee into a prize pool worth $385,500 and the last 33 players made the money.

After the dinner on Day 2, they played down to the final table, and it was a talented lineup that included (besides Newman) defending champ Johnny Bromberg, WSOP/WPT Champ James Calderaro, and nine-time WSOP Circuit champ Max Young.

The lead changed several times, but Newman took the last big pot when he eliminated Calderaro in a huge hand with a set of nines versus kings. With Day 2 wrapped up, the four remaining players divided the remaining prize pool instead of returning for an extra day.

Newman earned $61,530 for holding the lion’s share of the chips followed by Young, Bromberg, and Curtis Daye.

Newman’s accolades include 12 major Hollywood titles, the most recent coming in March, four WSOP Circuit rings, and this is his second May Deep Stack Poker Series win. He now has more than $2.4 million in career earnings and showing no signs of slowing down.

With the clock paused at the end of Day 2, the last four players decided to chop up the remaining prize pool instead of returning tomorrow to play it out.

Michael Newman was the big leader and took the lion’s share of the prize pool for $61,530. Max Young was second followed by defending champ Johnny Bromberg and Curtis Daye.

Hooker was in a lot of trouble with the smaller ace but took the lead when he paired his eight on the flop. The turn changed nothing but Young made a jack-high straight on the river to send Hooker out in fifth place.

In a four-bet three-way pot, the flop was and James Calderaro checked from the small blind. Curtis Daye checked and Michael Newman bet 300,000 from the button.

Calderaro check-raised to 700,000 to get a fold from Daye and call from Newman. The turn was , Calderaro announced all-in and Newman instantly called.

Calderaro had a monster but Newman turned a full house nines over threes. No two-outer on the river and Newman won the pot.

After counting down the stacks, Calderaro was the player at risk and eliminated.

Johnny Bromberg opened to 65,000 from the cutoff and Max Young called in the small blind. Alberto Hooker raised to 225,000 from the small blind and only Bromberg came along.

The flop was , Hooker bet 200,000 and Bromberg called. The turn was , Hooker checked, and Bromberg asked how much he was playing. Hooker said 450,000, Bromberg bet 450,000 and Hooker called at risk after thinking for a few minutes.

Action folded to Nu Teliani on the button and she moved all in for 390,000. Alberto Hooker reshipped from the small blind to get a fold from Michael Newman in the big.

“I bluffed so I could get to Halsey,” Teliani laughed after collecting her payout.

Award-winning musical artist Halsey is playing at the Hard Rock Live Theater and was just about to go on stage when Teliani left.

James Calderaro opened to 65,000 and Max Young three-bet to 170,000 from the button. Alberto Hooker shipped for 595,000 from the big blind to get a fold from Calderaro and called from Young.

Hooker stood up when he saw his pair was dominated by the bigger pair then quickly sat back down with the dealer rolled out the flop. Quads for Hooker was good and the turn and river finished the board before he stacked his double.

Curtis Daye limped under the gun and Nu Teliani raised to 110,000 from the hijack. Bromberg four-bet to 275,000 and Teliano moved all in. Bromberg quickly called at risk for 1,065,000.
