During the three-week run of the Showdown series, we will usually close out the day with a smaller buy-in trophy event, something for our local casual players to take a shot a big title.

Today, that tournament has a $300 buy-in with huge stacks and a lot of money up for grabs.

Players sit down to 40,000 in their stacks and all levels last 20 minutes. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 10 at 9:30 pm.

Event 1 Flight B: Building on a Good Start

The second flight of Showdown Event 1 gets underway at 5 pm in the Grand Ballroom and looks to build on the great start this morning. Flight A drew 390 entries, not too shabby for a Wednesday morning/afternoon, and the field will continue to grow into the coming weekend.

It is a $400 Deep Stack with a $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. Day 1 levels last 30 minutes, increasing to 40 on Day 2 and 60 minutes in Level 24. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 9:30 pm.

Play will continue until 12.5% of the field remains and survivors will return on Sunday at 1 pm for Day 2.

Another break has come and gone and we have a new big stack in the room. TJ Shulman still has a lot of chips but Hector Pacheco now leads with 308,500 and no one else is over 200K. That’s a great way to head into the final part of the flight with little less than half the remaining field set to bag.

Pacheco has seven tournament titles in our Poker Room, including wins in the Deep Stack Poker Series, Fun in the Sun, and Escalators, and shooting for his first major Hollywood title.

The entry count continues to climb as we get closer to shutting down registration for this first flight. We are way above pace to surpass the $1,000,000 guarantee and put together a huge number at the end.
