The count for 1C climbed over 400 with time running out to build on the number. It reached 420 midway through the level making it a real possibility the event will hit the $500,000 guarantee later this evening in 1D.

It’s a long shot, but we already know we’ll blow past it before long.

We continue to see a steady stream of local regulars getting in today’s flight as the count climbs over 360 entrants with 90 minutes left to grab a new stack.

Francis Margaglione, Stuart Paterson, Steven McKoy, Scott Zakheim, and Carolyn Zegeer are here in early action along with Jessica Dawley making her first appearance of the series.

It’s a certainty that 1C will top both of yesterday’s numbers, now it’s just a matter of seeing how much bigger.

Players came back to their seats for Level 5 and everyone is looking up at Gerald Dunn. The Indiana resident ran his starting 20,000 up to 67,925 in the first two hours to give him only 226 big blinds at this stage.

Dunn is followed closely by Janos Bodov as they only other person over 60,000 but there are some big names trying to chase them down including John Spadavecchia and Seminole Hard Rock Poker ambassador Sheddy Siddiqui.

Players are about to head off on their first break of the day with 311 entries into the flight so far. That’s a better pace than the previous two flights so we’re looking at a nice turnout.

We’ll return with the first glimpse of our 1C leaders when they come back to the first antes of the day.

South Florida and Seminole Hard Rock Poker are home to a lot of successful poker players from the Mizrachi Brothers to 3-time bracelet winner Brian Hastings to November Niner John Dolan to superstar Jason Mercier.

The state added a few more bracelets this summer including another WSOP Ladies Championship. Marsha Wolak is a regular here before she won that title in 2011 and she was joined this summer by fellow local Jacquelyn Scott when she outlasted 794 other players to win the bracelet.

She’s back in action today and trying to run up her early 1C stack.

The entrant count for 1C is closing in on 200  at the end of the first level with more regular back in action including Ory Hen and Eric Piderit.

The field did get shorter in the first level when Michael Fryett sent one to the rail before the blinds went up. He moved all-in with the board reading and his opponent called after a short tank. He tabled but his flush was drawing dead against Freyett’s nut flush .

The second day of the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open also presents the second round of opening flights for Event 1. The first two flight drew a combined 705 entrants to the $350 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament to set a nice pace towards the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.

We expect even bigger crowds today as the weekend kicks in and more people come out to play.

They will start with 20,000 stacks and play 30-minute levels throughout the day. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9, approximately 3:30pm, and they will bag up after Level 14.

Flights 1A and 1B had a total 122 players survive till the end of the night and today’s players will look to join them on Sunday for Day 2.

Cards are just about to fly in the ballroom for Flight 1C with 1D running at 6pm.

With a tight race to the finish of tonight’s play, Roberto Barreto rode a late surge to clear the 300,000 chip mark and lead Flight 1B.

Barreto wrapped up tonight’s play bagging 316,000.  A tightly-knit group followed him with Steven Kasimow finishing with 283,000, Ivan Saul with 277,500, Eyal Al Revah at 265,000, Joseph DiPascale with 263,000 and Vlad Brach at 251,000.

Barreto and the 62 players who survived Flight 1B will return Sunday at 1 PM for Day 2 and their chance to take down Event 1.  So far 122 players have advanced out of 705 entries.
