Event 10: Mercier Makes Them Surrender

$2,200 Eight Game Mix (Single Re-Entry)
Level 12: 1,500/3,000 Limits

It was only a matter of time before Jason Mercier had all the chips at the table. He came back from the break with a huge chip lead and it only grew.

Marcello Costa and Ben Yogel continued to send chips his way as they waited out the bubble, where one of them would earn $12,000 and the other just a handshake.

Yogel joined Costa down near the felt when he played a 2-7 Triple Draw hand against Mercier when the both stood pat the entire time. Costa called down bets until showdown.

“I’ve got a wheel.” Mercier deadpanned.

“You got dealt a wheel!” Yogel exclaimed.

It was a true story and Mercier had the vast majority of the chips in play. There were 225,000 in action with Mercier holding them all but the 8,600 of Costa and 13,700 in front of Yogel.

Costa and Yogel quickly came to a deal outside the money to chop up second place money giving Mercier his full $18,000 payout for the title.

Event 10: Hastings and Gray Eliminated

$2,200 Eight Game Mix (Single Re-Entry)
Level 11: 1,200/2,400 Limits
Game: Stud/8

Brian Hastings short lived comeback fell short at the hands of Ben Yogel in Pot Limit Omaha before a big hand played out in Stud/8.

Jonathan Gray was chopped down near the felt with just 900 (correct count) after a hand with Jason Mercier. He missed all his draws and was forced to fold with no chance to beat Mercier’s board.

Gray was all-in on the next hand and it was a family pot. Mercier stuck around until 5th street until Yogel and Marcello Costa began heavy betting. Costa eventually found himself all-in as well.

Gray: (Td3h) Ts6dAcQs
Costa: (AsTh) JhJdKhQh
Yogel: (7s3d) Kd6s2d5d

Gray was drawing dead to his 7h on 7th while Costa improved his straight to the nutflush with 2h and Gray made a useless straight with 4h, but still chopped the pot with a low.

Event 10: Merivitra Doubles

$2,200 Eight Game Mix (Single Re-Entry)
Level 10: 1,000/2,000 Limits
Game: Omaha/8

Jyri Merivitra began the final table second in chips but most of them disappeared quickly into the stack of Brian Hastings in a No Limit Hold’em hand. He was short but survived Razz until Omaha/8 rolled around.

Merivitra put in a third bet from the small blind after Marcello Costa opened the action. Costa called to get heads up and Merivitra fired bets on the flop and turn until he was all-in with the board reading Ah5h5dAc. Merivitra was looking good with quads AsAd7h6c and needed to dodge 13 chop outs from Costa’s JcJh6s2h.

The river was a blank Kh to give Costa the scoop and double.
