Vanessa Kade

While tournament staff add up the big numbers, we found some more visitor in our midst. We have a big crew coming into town for the Championship and the fields will keep growing.

Matt Stout is a regular feature in most of our big series and the recently married man is back trying to win his second SHRP title. He also made big splashes here when he made the WPT Poker Showdown televised final table in 2014 and again in 2018.

Vanessa Kade is making her first SHR Hollywood appearance not long after getting a lot of attention in the online poker world. The Canadian pro went big in the PokerStars 15th Anniversary Sunday Million event, outlasting an incredible 69,876-entry field to take the title along with more than $1.5 million. Welcome to South Florida, Vanessa.

Event 12: Nick Ahmadi Eliminated by David Moreno

$600 Big Stack Six-Max NLH (Single Re-Entry)
$50,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 8:  400/800 with a 800 ante
Entries:  541

David Moreno

Action folded to Nick Ahmadi in the cutoff and he open-shoved for 10,800. David Moreno was sitting on the button and called before the blinds folded.

Moreno: 5s5c
Ahmadi: Qc8c

Ahmadi was a coinflip from doubling up but Moreno improved to a set of fives on the JhTd5d flop. The 2h turn left Ahmadi looking for a gutshot nine to double but the 2d river filled Moreno’s boat to send Ahmadi out.

David Moreno: 65,600

Event 12: Break Time

Level 4:  200/300 with a 300 ante
Entries:  410

Solange Lucas

Players were sent on a staggered break and the last group is out of the room taking in some South Florida sunshine. The count is up to 410 and we’ll likely have another record field by the time registration closes at 4:30 pm.

We have a lot of local players mixing it up with our visitors. Among them, we found Solage Lucas and 2017 RRPO Champion Michael Newman.

Event 12: Busy Not Busting

$600 Big Stack Six-Max NLH (Single Re-Entry)
$50,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 4:  200/300 with a 300 ante
Entries:  296

Players continue to pile into the Six-Max tournament but the action seems a little slower than expected. We’re used to seeing players use the short-handed format to loosen up and get their chips in quick.

We have 296 entries showing on the clock but that will surely climb after the first break coming up.

Event 12: Big Start

Marie Harrell

Six-Max brings out the players. We had a nice group of 240 entries at the start of play with more coming into the Seminole Ballroom to get their seats.

This is going to be a big one.

We found some friends from the other side of the state trying to get some Hollywood hardware. Marie Harrell and Mario De La Puente are just two regulars from our sister room in Tampa and we’ll many more before the day is through.
