Championship Day 3: Guarino Gone

$3,500 Championship No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 22: 8,000/16,000/2,000 Ante

Joelle Guarino was the chip leader at the end of Day 1B and was able to ride those chips to a deep finish in the Championship. Her run came to an end after she three-bet shoved for 370,000 after Alberto Rodriguez opened for 35,000.

Guarino took his time but finally called with AhQd to dominate her Ad5c.

“Did you think I had AK?” Guarino asked after he tabled his hand.

“I thought I was flipping.” Rodriguez responded.

It was even better than a flip and he hit the KsQc9d to leave Guarino looking for running miracle cards. None came and she was drawing dead after the Kh turn.

Championship Day 3: Six Tables Remaining

$3,500 Championship No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 22: 8,000/16,000/2,000 Ante

The Championship is scheduled to play down to the final two tables with six now remaining. Three tables are down, four tables to go.

Everyone now will earn at least $10,188.

57th: Jose Reyes (West Palm Beach, FL) – $9,202
58th: Vinny Pahuja (Hicksville, NY) – $9,202
59th: Vlad Mezheretsky (Aventura, FL) – $9,202
60th: Allen Kessler (Las Vegas, NF) – $9,202
61st: Steve Karp (North Miami Beach, FL) – $9,202
62nd: Austin Peck (Allen, TX) – $9,202

Championship Day 3: Kessler and Pahuja Gone

$3,500 Championship No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 22: 8,000/16,000/2,000 Ante

Allen Kessler took over the second spot for career WPT cashes when he made the money here yesterday but has to settle for less than a win for the 21st time. He had a big chance to double when he was all-in with KdKs against Alexsandr Denisov’s 8s8d. Denisov flopped another Eight to send “Chainsaw” out in 60th spot.

Vinny Pahuja wasn’t far behind after getting all-in with KdJd against Sebastian Ruiz’ AcQc. The Ts8c6d flop did not improve his hand but he picked up an open-ended straight draw on the Qh turn. The river blanked 2h to send Pahuja out in 59th.

Championship Day 3: Million Chip Club

$3,500 Championship No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 22: 8,000/16,000/2,000 Ante

Kelly Minkin is the latest to join the top of the counts after a classic suck/resuck hand before the break. She had Steve Karp all in with her KdKh versus his AhKs.

Karp jumped way ahead when the flop came As8s5s to leave Minkin drawing very thin. It was the case King on the turn that left Karp drawing to 11 outs, all of which missed the 3d river to send him out and Minkin over 1,000,000.

Mark Dube – 1,433,000
Nenad Medic – 1,385,000
Sebastian Figueroa – 1,170,000
Brian Altman – 1,128,000
Kelly Minkin – 1,063,000

Championship Day 3: Another Table Down

Level 21: 6,000/12,000/2,000 Ante

They are wasting no time getting in the action. They broke the second table of the day with 30 minutes left in the level. That means another pay jump and here were the latest to exit the Championship.

64th: Nicholas Baker (Noonan, ND) – $8,216
65th: Amir Lehavot (Pembroke Pines, FL) – $8,216
66th: Michael Wang (Livingston, NJ) – $8,216
67th: Carter Gill (Madras, OR) – $8,216
68th: Roger Campbell (North Miami, FL) – $8,216
69th: Otto Palacios (Carolina, PR) – $8,216
70th: Mohammad Masoud (Homestead, FL) – $8,216
71st: Andy Frankenberger (New York, NY) – $8,216
72nd: David Farber (Heathrow, FL) – $8,216

Championship Day 3: Medic Gets Wang

$3,500 Championship No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 21: 6,000/12,000/2,000 Ante

Former WPT Champion Nenad Medic opened in early position before Michael Wang came over the top for the rest of his chips, less than 10 big blinds.

Medic wasted little time before calling with Ad7s against Wang’s KsQs. Both hit the AsQd8d flop but Wang added a second pair on the Kd turn.

“What a run out,” Allen Kessler said after the dealer slapped a third Ace, the Ac, on the river to hand Medic the pot.

“That’s how you get to a million,” Kessler continued.
