Chance Kornuth raised to 2,000 preflop under the gun and both of the blinds come along to see a flop dealt . Kornuth bet 3,000 and the small blind check-raised all-in. The big blind and Kornuth called, and the three players flipped over their cards.

The big blind was eliminated and the small blind doubled up thanks to the strength of her jack-kicker. Kornuth took a hit and he was down to 8,000 after the hand.

Nikolai Sears and Justin Zaki were among the recent eliminations. Notables still in the field include Xuan Liu, Shannon Shorr, Will Failla, Keven Stammen, Chance Kornuth, Tyler Patterson, Ari Engel, Jose Barbero, Darryll Fish, Dylan Wilkerson, Tyler Reiman, and Joe Kuether.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t catch up with some of our local poker heroes having some Turbo fun today.

You can put Darryll Fish on the list of best South Florida poker players without a WSOP bracelet. The Circuit ring winner has three WSOP final tables including a third place finish in the National Championship just a few weeks ago.

John Dolan made the 2010 November Nine and finished 6th for a cool $1.7 million. He also has success in the neighborhood with a Coco Poker Open Championship title at our sister casino.

Stuart Paterson’s biggest tournament cash came with a final table appearance at the 2006 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open but most of his success came before Black Friday. He racked up more than $2.8 million in his career playing online tournaments until the crackdown in 2011.

Jason Young is a South Florida transplant from the Northeast and hit several tournaments during the series including a 6th place finish in Event 7. Young’s top prize is a WSOP bracelet from the 2006 Shootout.

We mentioned Shawn Cunix earlier and his Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open third place result last year, our most recent walk through the field found the second place player.

WSOP bracelet winner Mike Leah had his biggest career score last summer when he took home more than $1,000,000 for his runner-up finish to Dan Colman.

Colman is nowhere to be found this series but we do have a former Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open champ in the building. Blair Hinkle already had a WSOP bracelet and two WSOP Circuit titles to his credit when he came to South Florida and captured the $10,000,000 Guarantee Championship.

As expected, today’s field is full of players coming to town for the Big 4 Championship weekend and the Turbo is turning in a nice star-studded affair.

The big splash comes from the current WSOP Main Event leader on a four-month break. Joe McKeehen holds (almost) all the chips going into the November Nine final table later this year and he dominated the Main Event on that final play down day.

He’s taken his seat in the Turbo, sitting alongside Seminole Hard Rock Poker ambassador Michael Laake.

We also found Esther Taylor-Brady, the better half of the Brady Family Poker Machine with husband Matt Brady. She made the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open final table in January and followed that up with a deep run during this spring’s WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown.

Shawn Cunix is also back and can only improve his finish in last year’s Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship by a few spots. The three-time WPT final table member finished third in last year’s champion behind Mike Leah and Dan Colman for $747,313 and the biggest cash of his career.

The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship is almost upon us and we have a little warmup for those getting ready to play the big $5,000,000 Guarantee. There are satellites running all day throughout the ballroom but we have a fast-paced tournament for those already holding a ticket to the Championship.

Event 19 is a No Limit Hold’em Turbo tournament with no re-entries and 15-minute levels from start to finish. Registration will close after the first break, around 2:15pm, and it will move quickly. That will give one player enough time to win the tournament and still be rested up for tomorrow’s feature event on the schedule.

We expect to see some new faces in town for the Big 4 weekend and it should be a talented field.

Cards are about to get in the air and get the Turbo underway.
