Event 19: New Faces

$1,100 Turbo No Limit Hold’em (Freeze-Out)
Level 3: 75/150

As expected, today’s field is full of players coming to town for the Big 4 Championship weekend and the Turbo is turning in a nice star-studded affair.

The big splash comes from the current WSOP Main Event leader on a four-month break. Joe McKeehen holds (almost) all the chips going into the November Nine final table later this year and he dominated the Main Event on that final play down day.

He’s taken his seat in the Turbo, sitting alongside Seminole Hard Rock Poker ambassador Michael Laake.

We also found Esther Taylor-Brady, the better half of the Brady Family Poker Machine with husband Matt Brady. She made the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open final table in January and followed that up with a deep run during this spring’s WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown.

Shawn Cunix is also back and can only improve his finish in last year’s Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship by a few spots. The three-time WPT final table member finished third in last year’s champion behind Mike Leah and Dan Colman for $747,313 and the biggest cash of his career.

Event 19: Turbo Freeze-Out

$1,100 Turbo No Limit Hold’em (Freeze-Out)
Level 1: 25/50

The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship is almost upon us and we have a little warmup for those getting ready to play the big $5,000,000 Guarantee. There are satellites running all day throughout the ballroom but we have a fast-paced tournament for those already holding a ticket to the Championship.

Event 19 is a No Limit Hold’em Turbo tournament with no re-entries and 15-minute levels from start to finish. Registration will close after the first break, around 2:15pm, and it will move quickly. That will give one player enough time to win the tournament and still be rested up for tomorrow’s feature event on the schedule.

We expect to see some new faces in town for the Big 4 weekend and it should be a talented field.

Cards are about to get in the air and get the Turbo underway.

Event 19 Champion
Ade Adeyemi

Recap:
After two days of wild play and a final table filled with high emotion, one of the good guys took down the Event 19 title.  After a deal was made between the final six players, Ade Adeyemi ended up with the biggest stack of the remaining players and was declared champion.

The most important hand of Adeyemi’s night came when he was in a four-way pot pre-flop and decided to risk it all after a raise, a call and re-raise.  Holding jacks, Adeyemi pushed his stack and got the other three players to lay their hands down and in a event where the chips stacks ended very close it turned out to be the big winner.

Adeyemi couldn’t have been happier after the victory.  “It feels pretty good.  It’s a pretty nice win and a nice trophy.”

After the win, Adeyemi announced he would be making a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help combat a disease that has affected him and his family personally.  “I’m trying to help raise funds to help raise funds for cancer.  We have to beat this disease for all of us and our kids.”

Adeyemi had nothing but great things to say about his poker home here in Florida.  “They are the best.  You can’t beat it.  I love it here – this is my home.  I play every tournament here all the time and every single tournament in this series.  So it’s nice to be able to take one trophy home.”

Congratulations to our Event 19 Champion – Ade Adeyemi!

Recap:

Event 19 was one of the last events of the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” and the small buy-in tournament drew a nice crowd. There were 655 entrants over the two starting days looking for part of the $50,000 guaranteed prize pool but it was Francisco Regaldo who was the last player standing to earn the top prize of $16,592 and the framed picture from IMPDI.

There were 264 entrants for the first flight but the second one drew a huge 391 entrant field as the last time to play in the series. Only 85 players were able to bag chips and returned to play Day 2. It took six hours but the made it down to the money bubble with just 45 getting paid.

They were quickly in the money when Melvin Suero knocked out two opponents with trip Fives and the action picked up the pace.

Three players dropped at the start of the 10-handed final table including Justin Lee and Aaron Frei. The seven remaining players took their turns pushing chips around the table but they were finally able to finish it up in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

With Stuart Greenbaum sent out in 7th place and the blinds climbing, the six players left at the table decided on an ICM chop of the remaining prize pool with Francisco Regaldo getting the title for having the biggest stack. He earned $16,592 for the win plus the trophy and custom, framed print from IMPDI.

Final table results:

1st: Francisco Regaldo – $16,592
2nd: Rene Martinez – $10,385
