2022 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, Florida Event 33 $1,100 H.O.R.S.E. Championship (Freeze-out) Entries: 62 Prize Pool: $60,140 April 7-8, 2022
Event 33 of the 2022 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown was the $1,100 H.O.R.S.E. Championship (Freeze-out). A field of 62 entries generated a prize pool of $60,140. Up top for the winner was $21,645.
The two-day event was down to eight players after Day 1, each in the money. The one to beat was six-time SHRP major series trophy winner Yuval Bronshtein, who was the chip leader entering the final table.
Since moving to South Florida and becoming a regular in the mixed-game tournaments here, Bronshtein has dominated the scene. With 13 mixed-game final tables made, he’d won six of those tournaments.
“I just work really hard and put in a lot of hours. I’m very motivated, I try my best, and I’m very fortunate.”
Only once had Bronshtein been defeated heads-up in a tournament that played out, and the one who beat him was Nick Pupillo. As fate would have it, it was Pupillo whom Bronshtein found himself heads-up with in this one, and whom he would eventually defeat to win his seventh SHRP major series trophy.
“Playing against Nick – he’s really tough,” said Bronshtein of his heads-up opponent. “He makes really good reads, he’s really tricky, and last time when we played I really wanted to win because I had won the night before and it would have been back-to-back, and he was the one who stopped me from doing that. So kind of going into today, part of me wanted to play him heads up and to beat him as redemption, so I couldn’t really have scripted it any better.”
Nick Pupillo was the bring-in, Yuval Bronshtein completed to 25,000, Pupillo raised to 50,000, and Bronshtein called.
Bronshtein check-called 25,000 from Pupillo on fourth street, then Pupillo made an open pair on fifth street and bet 50,000. Bronshtein called, and called another 50,000 on sixth street.
Pupillo bet his remaining 30,000-ish on seventh street and Bronshtein called.
Pupillo tabled for sevens and fours, but Bronshtein showed for a superior two pair of tens and eights to win his seventh SHRP trophy and the first-place prize of $21,645.
Pupillo finished runner-up for $12,720.
A recap of the event will be posted later tonight.
