We’ve hit the final flight of Event 5 as Day 1F is now underway. With the $150,000 guarantee destroyed after a whopping 1500 entries, we continue adding onto that total adding to an already outstanding prize pool.
Cards are in the air as our players have their last chance to make Day 2 and play for the Event 5 championship.
$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry) Level 12: 800/1,600/200 Ante
There are just 60 players left in Flight 1D and they are off on a quick 10-minute break. They’ll return and play two more levels before bagging up and coming back tomorrow with 97 who survived 1A/B/C.
$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry) Level 5: 150/300/25 Ante
Players are back in their seats and we had another nice run at the registration desk as Flight 1E goes over 350 entrants with two more levels to get in.
Mohammed Tarkamani led a few events this series but has yet to pull out a big score. He’s at it once again with the early lead in 1E and pretty well clear of Jeff Nemes’ second place stack.
They’ll shut down registration for 1E at 6:15pm to leave just 1F for players to get a piece of the big prize pool.
Mohammed Tarkamani – 74,775 (249 bb) Jeff Nemes – 61,900 (206 bb) Michael Garcia – 59,500 (198 bb) Bruce Snell – 54,450 (182 bb) Donald Gatlin – 49,125 (164 bb) Martin Robbins – 49,000 (163 bb) Nicholas Goodwin – 48,025 (160 bb) Peter Hsu – 43,925 (146 bb) Jie Lui – 41,900 (140 bb) Arie Ben-Mayor – 40,475 (135 bb) Abbey Daniels – 40,150 (134 bb) Jonathan Marks – 40,125 (134 bb) Evan Teitelbaum – 40,050 (134 bb) Bradford Corner – 40,000 (133 bb) David Gelley – 38,675 (129 bb)
Players in Flight 1E are on their first break of the day with over 300 entered so far. They’ll have two more levels after the break to fire off their stack and re-enter or build it up.
Now we’ll have a good idea who had themselves a nice run over the first four levels.
He’s not in action anymore, but you can definitely tell when former NBA champion Earl Barron is in the room.
The 7-footer has been playing events all week and causing heads to turn when the big man walks among us shorter-stature people. Barron made his name with the NBA 2006 title winning Miami Heat and has earned more than $80,000 since he began playing poker tournaments including a deep run in the 2013 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship.
Flight 1E continues to climb and has reached 288 players at the start of Level 3.
It didn’t take long to pass over the $150,000 guarantee placed on this event, the 160th entrant was good enough and now every player signing up is building it higher.
A few regular faces are making an early appearance in Flight 1E including Oneil McCalla, who won a much smaller version of this tournament at the 2013 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, and 2011 WSOP Ladies Champion Marsha Wolak.
The fifth flight of Event 5 is underway and already getting close to breaking the 1,250 entrants needed to meet the guarantee on this event.
Flight 1D continues to play down on one side of the ballroom while the rest fills with the 1E. It is becoming a fun, loud time with plenty of action for a small buy-in and big money at the end.
Players begin with 12,000 stacks and play 30-minute levels all day long. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 7 and they will stop play after Level 14. Those still holding chips will bag them up and return tomorrow for Day 2.
$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry) Level 5: 150/300/25 Ante
Players are back in their seats as the entrant count nears 250 for the flight. They only two more levels to get in the game, or re-enter if they run into trouble.
Leonard St. Germain, Jami Kopacz, Trung Le, and Julio Fernandez probably won’t be using the re-entry option after their early runs. Each has run a 12,000 starting stack over 40,000 in four levels with St. Germain leading the way early.
Leonard St. Germain – 47,450 (158 bb) Jami Kopacz – 46,275 (154 bb) Trung Le – 44,400 (148 bb) Julio Fernandez – 42,550 (142 bb) Marie Fisher – 38,175 (127 bb) Kuzma Katayenko – 37,275 (124 bb) Kenneth Watson – 37,000 (123 bb) Frederico Dabus – 33,250 (111 bb) Michael Russo – 31,600 (105 bb) Kevin Brown – 30,500 (102 bb) Danielle Bastarache – 30,375 (101 bb) Stefan Alvarez – 30,175 (101 bb)
