Event 5 Day 1D: Three More Running

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50

After a busy Monday in the ballroom, today will seem pretty slow with only four major events running. Three of those will be starting flights for the $150 buy-in, $150,000 Guarantee Event 5 and will take up most of the space.

The first three flights drew 827 entrants yesterday to put us easily on a pace to break that guarantee and work on getting to $200,000. Nice money for a small amount.

The first flight is about to get running and players will start behind 12,000 stacks with 30-minute levels throughout the day. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 7.

Play is schedule to stop at the end of Level 14 when everyone with chips will bag them up and return tomorrow for Day 2. They will join up with the 97 who made it through yesterday and those from 1E/1F.

Event 5 Day 5C: Flight Ends, Alan Leon Leads

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14: 1,200/2,400/400 Ante

A late run for Alan Leon managed to push him to the top of the leaderboard on Day 5C and the tournament.

Leon put away 372,500 chips and ended up the leader of the flight. Karl Manouchakian also put up a big number bagging 303,500. Jeffrey Trudeau, Jr. finished third in the flight with 274,500 followed by Johnny Layne at 201,500 and Mike Arrington with 197,000.

Day 5C’s final total of advancing players nearly matched the first two flights as 33 players qualified for Day 2 running the total to 97. So far, Event 5 has tallied 827 entries as we head into three more flights tomorrow at 11 AM, 3 PM and 7 PM to close out Day 1 of the tournament.

Congratulations to everyone who advanced to Day 2 this evening!

Event 5 Day 5C: Break Time Event Update

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 12: 800/1,600/200 Ante

While the remaining 44 players in Day 1C are taking a ten minute break, here’s an brief update on the first two flights today.

Day 1A had 253 entries with 32 players advancing.  Vyes Fequiere finished as the flight’s chip leader with 217,500.

Day 1B added another 265 entries and also had 32 players move on to Day 2.  Michael Rumie ended up leading the way and took the overall chip lead in the tournament bagging 352,500 chips.

With the 309 entries into Day 1C, we’re now up to 827 entries with 64 advancing so far as we get ready to wrap up play tonight.

Event 5 Day 5C: Back At It Again

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 12: 800/1,600/200 Ante

After a day of three final tables, we’re getting a chance to take a look at Day 5C of Event 5. And it appears that two of our players from those earlier final tables just couldn’t get enough of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open today.

Event 1 Champion Jorge Gomez is not only playing but has rolled up 130,000 chips with an eye on adding a second championship in this series.  Also still in the field is Jeffrey Trudeau, Jr. who finished 8th in Event 4 earlier today.

54 players remain out of the 309 entries into this flight.

Event 5 Day 1A: Peter Chin Leads Early

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 5: 150/300/25 Ante

A few extra players grabbed a seat after the break to bring the current count up to 234 entrants at the start of Level 5.

Peter Chin won two events during the 2013 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open and has a nice start in Event 5 with the first break lead. He’s followed by Brett Silverman and Lois Bovit with just two more levels of registration.

Peter Chin – 57,400 (191 bb)
Brett Silverman – 49,375 (165 bb)
Lois Bovit – 48,600 (162 bb)
Joel Harwood – 42,125 (140 bb)
Guillermo Hamilton – 41,075 (137 bb)
Wally Maddah – 38,375 (128 bb)
Robert Wiercinski – 37,975 (127 bb)
Errol Massey – 35,825 (119 bb)
Michael Abrams – 34,350 (115 bb)

Event 5 Day 1A: First Break

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 4: 100/200

Flight 1A is on its first break of the day with 215 entrants so far.

We’ll return with the first round of chip count updates but we’re pretty sure Errol Massey will be among the leaders after he flopped trip fives in a five-way pot, turned quads, and the board completed with a full house fives full of threes. Massey moved all-in and two spots called him playing the board versus his quads.

Event 5: Slow Growing

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 2: 50/100

Few people are fans of Monday mornings, and we seem to have a few of those today. Flight 1A of Event 5 is traditionally the smallest of the six starting days, mostly because it kicks off on a Monday morning.

The entrant count has ticked over 150 at the start of Level 2 so it’s on a nice pace despite not reaching the afternoon hours yet. Friend-of-the-blog Errol Massey is among that starting group, he has some big results here but looking to improve on his slow start this series.

Event 5 Day 1A: Low Buy-in Big Money

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50

It will be a busy day in the ballroom with six separate Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open fields throughout the day; two restarts, a one day H.O.R.S.E. tournament, and three starting flights of Event 5.

The opening field is Flight 1A of the $150 buy-in tournament with a nice $150,000 guaranteed prize pool. Players can make a lot of money for a small price.

They’ll start with 12,000 stacks and play 30-minute levels throughout the day with late registration/re-entry available until the start of Level 7. The flight won’t end until Level 14 comes to an end (or they hit 10% of the starting entrants) and those who remain will bag up their chips for Day 2 on Wednesday.

Flight 1A is about to get moving and we’ll be here all day covering the action from all around the ballroom.
