Event 9: Emerging Stacks

$570 Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 7: Blinds 250/500/50 ante

We’re nearing the halfway point of Flight F and a few chip stacks are starting to pile up.  Two of the players to watch at this point are Mike Amato and Eddie Uehara.  Both have managed to pick up a significant amount of the tan 5k chips along with a nice assortment of companions.  We’ll keep an eye on these two along with the rest of field as this flight continues on.

Event 9: Sporting The Colors

$570 Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 6: Blinds 200/400/50 ante

Seminole Hard Rock-Hollywood is not exactly Florida State territory with “The U” just down the highway.  But Lawrence Smith has been proudly sporting his FSU Seminole colors all series.  After FSU stayed undefeated in another nailbiter against Boston College, Smith hopes to follow in their footsteps and “just win.”  He, along with the rest of tonight’s remaining players, will try to make the big step and advance to Day 2 in this event’s final flight.

$570 Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 3: Blinds 75/150

The final flight of Event 9 is cruising right along and just passed 150 entrants as they moved into the second hour of play. Since the number of entrants reached pushed the prize pool over the $500,000 guarantee in the morning flight, every new entry now just adds icing to the cake.

There are more than a few regulars taking one last shot to make Day 2 including Luis Santoni, Glen Cressman, Nigel Murray, Elliott Zaydman, Zach Kessler, Luke Brereton, Lily Killeto, Robert Campbell, and Jessica Rosado.

Event 9: Efron Storms Ahead Late

$570 Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14: Blinds 1,200/2,400/400 ante

There were a few stacks hanging around the high 200k’s including Scott Efron (Boca Raton, FL). He was on the radar over the last level before getting a late table change. Then things went really well for Efron.

By the time everything was done in Flight E, Efron had racks of black chips to race off plus a few stacks of 5k. When it was all added up, Efron put 429,000 in his bag to easily surpass the previous opening flight leader Francis Margaglione.

Just 66 players remained from Flight E and they will join up with the 168 from the first four flights and whoever makes it through Flight F underway on the other side of the room.

Event 9: Final Countdown

$570 Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 14: Blinds 1,200/2,400/400 ante

Players put their foot on the pedal over the last level and they’ve quickly dropped down to just nine tables left in play. The shorter stacks are trying to build back up or get in the final flight which is underway on the other side of the room.

If they bag chips, they cannot enter another flight.

In a few minutes they will pause the clock and play seven more hands before bagging for Day 2 tomorrow afternoon.

Brandon Berkenfeld (Delray Beach, FL) is one of those with plenty of chips out front but he wasn’t interested in getting his face on our site. Berkenfeld instead pointed the crew to his card protector.

Berkenfeld’s son Andrew gave him a special toy to use as his card protector (plus a different one for cash game) and it’s doing great for him so far. He went off on the final break with over 150,000 in his stack to hang with the leaders. Berkenfeld made a deep run in the massive $150 buy-in Event 7 just a few days ago and looking to improve on that feat.

Event 9: End is Near

$570 Deeper Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 12: Blinds 800/1,600/200 ante

Play has moved into the 12th level of the flight and there are still plenty of tables in action with a chance to join the other 168 who bagged chips through the first three starting flights.

We have yet to see anyone pulling away with a huge lead but we know a few who will have to take a shot at the final flight at 6pm.

We are tracking some leaders and will bring you counts over the next hour as they move in on closing time.
