2017 RRPO Day 1: Gunnar Rabe and John Binns Shine on Day 1

Just one day into the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker open, there is already a RRPO champion and two flights of the ultimate re-entry are in the books.

John Binns earned the first trophy of the 2017 RRPO after defeating 74 entries in the $300 Omaha 8 or Better. The semi-retired businessman earned his first Hard Rock trophy and $6,605 after dominating the final table and Stephen Reid heads-up.

The first two starting flights of the $360 ultimate re-entry no-limit hold’em wrapped up on Wednesday as well. Miguel Martinez bagged the chip lead in Day 1A, which drew 327 entries. He finished with 355,000 to lead the 28 survivors, but Gunnar Rabe has the overall chip lead through two flights.

Rabe finished Day 1B with 410,000. There were 285 entries in Day 1B and 28 made it through the day. Raminder Singh bagged chips in both flights. He became the first player to bag multiple flights and took home an extra $2,500 in cash for his second bag and will get another $2,500 for every subsequent flight he survives. He will take his biggest stack forward to Day 2.

Thursday’s action features two more starting flights of the ultimate re-entry and the Seniors event. A complete schedule will be published in the morning.
