The last weekend of the May Deep Stack Poker Series is almost here and it’s time to roll out the Deepest Stack tournament. It has a $1,700 buy-in with a $300,000 guarantee and three starting flights. Flight A starts at 10 am with Flight B tomorrow and C on Saturday.

Players start with huge 50K stacks and levels last 40 minutes on Day 1, going up to 60 minutes on Day 2 and 90 starting with Level 23. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Day 2 on Sunday at noon. Flight A will come to an end after Level 14 and survivors will bag for a Day 2 return.

This will be a great way to close out the series and we look forward to seeing everyone. We will pick up the action after the first break and follow until the end.

We stepped up the game with Event 3 of the May Deep Stack Poker Series. The $600 buy-in Deeper Stack tournament drew 507 entries and Carlos Bermudez took the lead late to win the title after a six-way deal saw him earn $29,649.

The turnout easily surpassed the $150,000 over two starting flights and they created a prize pool worth $266,175. The last 64 spots paid and they made the money shortly after the first break.

Bermudez made the final table and quickly took the lead with a lot of his chips coming when he eliminated Andre Bryan in eighth place. As they were finishing up their Day 2 action, the six remaining players decided to divide up the remaining money left in the prize pool and Bermudez took the title along with the top prize.

The clock counted down to the end of Level 25 with six players remaining and ready to bag up for a Day 3 return on Thursday. Instead, they decided to look at ICM numbers based on their chip counts.

They quickly agreed to a deal to divide up the remaining prize pool and Carlos Bermudez took the top spot along with $29,648.

Carlos Rojas opened to 85,000 from under the gun and picked up calls from Zachary Eichenbaum in the cutoff, Michael Johnson on the button, Steven Cohen in the small blind, and Marco Rodriguez in the big blind.

The flop came JcTc5c and Cohen checked. Rodriguez moved all in from the big for about 770,000 and Rojas quickly called. The rest of the table folded and the hands were tabled.

Rodriguez flopped top pair with a club draw but he was behind the aces and better flush draw of Rojas. The 7c turn completed the club flush and Rodriguez was drawing dead to the 6c river to exit in seventh place.

With 595,000 total behind, Ivan Ruban opened to 350,000 from under the gun and Carlos Bermudez dropped in a stack of 100K chips for a raise to 1,200,000. The rest of the table quickly folded and Ruban put in the last of his chips.

It was four-ways to a flop of Kd9c4c and Andre Bryan bet 250,000 from the big blind. Carlos Rojas folded, Carlos Bermudez asked to see Bryan’s stack, and announced all in. Michael Johnson folded and Bryan quickly called.

Bryan flopped two pair kings and fours and needed to fade clubs or some runner-runner combos. The 2s turn gave Bermudez a wheel draw that got there on the 5d river to send a shocked Bryan was sent off the final table in eighth place.

This is the second straight deep run for Bryan in this tournament to go along with his third-place finish in 2021.
