Event 2: Omaha Getting Bigger

$250 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 5: 400/800 Limits

While Event 1 Flight C continues to build in the main section of the ballroom, Event 2 has quietly built itself into a big non-Hold’em event in the back corner.

Last year’s Limit Omaha/8 tournament drew 76 players and this version hit 80 entrants with more than two hours remaining for late registration or re-entry. It’s going to have a nice, big number by the time the close the books and they are scheduled to finish sometime this evening.

Michael Moed is one of those recent entries and he’s looking to add to his already impressive résumé in this game. He has nine tournament wins in his career with seven of them coming in Omaha/8 events, including this event a few months ago during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown.

Event 1 Day 1C: More Familiar Faces

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 6: 200/400/50 Ante

We continue to see a steady stream of local regulars getting in today’s flight as the count climbs over 360 entrants with 90 minutes left to grab a new stack.

Francis Margaglione, Stuart Paterson, Steven McKoy, Scott Zakheim, and Carolyn Zegeer are here in early action along with Jessica Dawley making her first appearance of the series.

It’s a certainty that 1C will top both of yesterday’s numbers, now it’s just a matter of seeing how much bigger.

Event 2: Checking In

$250 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 2: 150/300 Limits

A quick walk through the Event 2 found a few of local grinders getting a seat with past success in this version of the game. There were 50 entrants listed as they leveled up including Robert Campbell, Errol Massey, Luis Santoni, and “Miami John” Cernuto.

Campbell won the Pot Limit version of this event last summer along with his other 10 Omaha/8 titles. Massey just missed out on that title when he had to settle for the runner-up position. Santoni captured the H.O.R.S.E. title this past November in the Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll” Poker Open

Cernuto has the most success in the tournament with three WSOP bracelet and two WSOP-C rings with his latest coming in a Limit Omaha/8 event.

Event 1 Day 1C: Another Champ Enters

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 3: 75/150

South Florida and Seminole Hard Rock Poker are home to a lot of successful poker players from the Mizrachi Brothers to 3-time bracelet winner Brian Hastings to November Niner John Dolan to superstar Jason Mercier.

The state added a few more bracelets this summer including another WSOP Ladies Championship. Marsha Wolak is a regular here before she won that title in 2011 and she was joined this summer by fellow local Jacquelyn Scott when she outlasted 794 other players to win the bracelet.

She’s back in action today and trying to run up her early 1C stack.

Event 2: Split Pot Fun

$250 Limit Omaha/8 (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 100/200 Limits

While Event 1 still has a few days before the champion is crowned, today will give us the first trophy winner of the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open when Event 2 comes to an end.

Event 2 is a $250 buy-in Limit Omaha/8 tournament scheduled to start and end today. This tournament drew 76 entrants last summer with Wayne Brown taking the title.

Players will begin with 10,000 stacks and play 30-minute levels, plenty of space in the limit game to make moves. Late registration and re-entry is available until the start of Level 9 around 4:30 this afternoon. The deep structure keeps the re-entries to a minimum but the option is there.

They’ll determine the first SHRPO champion of the summer in the first non-Hold’em tournament. Cards are in the air and we’ll keep an eye on the tournament as they move throughout the day.

Event 1 Day 1C: Climbing High

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50

The entrant count for 1C is closing in on 200  at the end of the first level with more regular back in action including Ory Hen and Eric Piderit.

The field did get shorter in the first level when Michael Fryett sent one to the rail before the blinds went up. He moved all-in with the board reading 8c5c4c2h and his opponent called after a short tank. He tabled QcTc but his flush was drawing dead against Freyett’s nut flush Ac7c.

Event 1 Day 1C: Friday Morning Poker

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 1: 25/50

The second day of the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open also presents the second round of opening flights for Event 1. The first two flight drew a combined 705 entrants to the $350 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament to set a nice pace towards the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.

We expect even bigger crowds today as the weekend kicks in and more people come out to play.

They will start with 20,000 stacks and play 30-minute levels throughout the day. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9, approximately 3:30pm, and they will bag up after Level 14.

Flights 1A and 1B had a total 122 players survive till the end of the night and today’s players will look to join them on Sunday for Day 2.

Cards are just about to fly in the ballroom for Flight 1C with 1D running at 6pm.
