Michael Tweedlie, SHRPO Event 23 champion

As the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open series moved towards the big final weekend, we had a $1,100 buy-in Deep Stack tournament with a two-day structure and live-streamed final table by our friends at Poker Night in America. Seven players came back and Michael Tweedlie ran hot and pure and had the trophy along with $66,500 in an hour.

The tournament drew 314 entries to triple the $100,000 guarantee into a $304,580 prize pool. Event 23 played into the money, down to the nine-handed final table, and wrapped up Day 1 when seven remained for the live-streamed final table on Day 2.

Tweedlie came into the final table sixth out of the seven remaining but quickly ran his stack up while RJ Sullivan and Aaron Thivyanathan were sent out. He caught pocket aces in the big blind after two shoves to take the lead, flopped quads against Dave Hewitt’s turned full house soon after, and ended heads-up after a few hands with flush over flush against runner-up Larry Hoffman.

From seven players to a winner before they could even think about a dealer change or break from the action. Tweedlie hit everything, found a way to get paid, and earned $66,500 along with the SHRPO trophy for the win.

The Super High Roller field was sent on the first break of the day not long after the reigning WSOP Main Event champ took a seat in the big game.

Espen Jørstad picked up his first career WSOP bracelet early the summer with a $1,000 Tag Team win, but he wasn’t done there. He ran hot at the end of the summer and took home the massive WSOP Main Event bracelet after conquering the 8,663-player field for a $10,000,000 payout.

Now the champ is here and warming up with the $50,000 Super High Roller.
