Event 7: Vu Headed To The Bar

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 12: Blinds 800/1600/200 ante

There will be no back-to-back wins for Angel Vu.

Vu pushed her remaining stack with A-Q but ran into A-K.  Even her lucky frog card protector couldn’t save her this time and she is out the door.

But on the plus side, it gives Angel a little extra time to celebrate her earlier victory in Event 5 in one of the great bars here at Seminole Hard Rock – Hollywood.

Event 7: On A More Pleasant Note…

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 11: Blinds 600/1200/200 ante

Another one of the big stacks in this flight is Marty Robbins.  Aside from collecting chips, Robbins has been discussing his theories on reincarnation, the pleasures of having grandchildren and his wife not allowing him to sing even in the shower despite having a famous musical name.  Robbins is keeping smiles on the faces of his fellow players while he rises up the leaderboard.

Around the room, we’re nearing having eight tables remaining active and are about to hit Level 12.  Three more levels remain before play ends for the night.

Event 7: Getting A Little Chippy

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 10: Blinds 500/1000/100 ante

Whether it’s the late hour or tensions starting to rise, some players are losing it while others just keep on rolling.

Table 27 saw an odd hand where a player who a player in Seat 3 who thought he was in the small blind but was actually on the button made a huge bet out of turn.  His bet was pulled back and three players put in 5k.  The player who’d bet out of turn still put 20k into the pot.

He was then called by Seat 9, Seat 1 went all-in and was called by Seat 2.  Seat 3 then pushed all-in as well and was the short stack in the group.  Only Seat 9 was left to make a decision but Seat 3 then called the clock only 30 seconds into Seat 9’s turn.  The floor was called and the table ganged up saying he hadn’t take too much time and the clock call was removed.  Seat 9 then folded after a very heated discussion.

Seat 3 flipped over 6c3c on a 8d2dJdTd board and it turned out all the blustering was because he knew he’d dumped his chips on a horrible play, was eliminated and the table practically celebrated his departure along with a little needling from the rail.

While that was going on, Table 25 also had a situation where a player had gone all-in, Nick Yunis had called and another boisterous player called.  When he won the hand he stood up and screamed “SHIP ME THE WHOLE THING!”.   The first player left the table and Yunis calmly counted out chips to match his bet and moved on ignoring the blustering.

The pressure is on here in Flight 1F and won’t be settling down anytime soon.

Event 7: Whittling Down the Field

$150 No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Level 9: Blinds 400/800/100 ante

The Center Bar must be starting to fill up.

After starting off after the break with 207 players remaining, the field is already down to 135 in a matter of just 75 minutes and still dropping fast.  Play continues through Level 14 tonight as these players hope to advance with the other five flight’s players to Day 2 tomorrow.

Rock N’ Roll Poker Open Player Profile: Ryan Haft

After busting top pro Tristan Wade out and finishing in 46th place in Event 1, Ryan Haft’s cool demeanor and distinctive look caught the attention quite a few players here at the Seminole Hard Rock Rock N’ Roll Poker Open.

The Miami, FL resident mostly plays on-line but has also tries to squeeze in as much time as possible at the live tables.  “I try to play a little every day.  But I’m traveling so much it’s hard to stay in one place to get to play.”

Music production takes up most of Ryan’s time.  Haft has traveled the world with various bands.  He’s a rocker through and through and has even helped bring entertainment to guests here at Seminole Hard Rock-Hollywood.  “I’ve done production for the Beatles cover band here and even did production for Jeff The Brotherhood when they opened here for Weezer.”

Poker isn’t in the cards as a career right now but he has had solid success.  Playing under the name “kraftsingle”, he’s put up over $66,000 in on-line cashes with his biggest being around $9,000.  He just had his biggest live score last week picking up $1,700.

This is his second series he’s played here at Seminole Hard Rock-Hollywood and enjoys the getting in the action.  “It’s an incredible environment, incredible staff and the structures are great too.  I know that’s what everyone says but it’s the truth.”

Haft will have the rest of the week to try to put some more cash in his pocket before he hits the road again for his music career.  But watch out for this up and coming player as he tries to go out of this series with some serious noise.  You can follow Ryan on Twitter at @choochPoker.
