David Novosel raised from the hijack to 85,000, two-time WPT champion Aaron Mermelstein reraised from the cutoff to 270,000, and Geoffrey Hum used one of his Time Chips to tank for nearly a minute before he four-bet all in for 835,000 from the button.

Novosel folded, and Mermelstein went into the tank himself, using one of his Time Chips to tank for a while.

After thinking for a while, Mermelstein said, “I’m obviously pretty light.”

Shortly after that, Mermelstein called with Kh10s, and Hum turned over 9h9d. Hum needed his hand to hold to stay alive.

The board came Qh8d2s4d10d, and Mermelstein paired his ten on the river to win the pot and eliminate Hum in 21st place.

With three hands to go last night and 65 players still in the field, Mermelstein lost a big pot to get knocked down to just two big blinds. Mermelstein then went on to win those next three hands to end Day 2 with 20 big blinds, and as you can see, he is still alive with 20 players remaining. It’s not quite a chip-and-a-chair comeback, but coming back from two big blinds is still a rare occurrence.

With 20 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 1,975,000 (49 big blinds), and the remaining players are all guaranteed at least $22,975 each.

Here is a list of the players who have been recently eliminated:

21st:  Geoffrey Hum  –  $19,200
22nd:  Audrius Stakelis  –  $19,200
