Event 1: Day 2 Preview

$350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

After three long days and six starting flights, Day 1 of Event 1 is finally over.  This event carried a $500,000 guarantee on the total prize pool and that amount was covered with ease.  The final player count was 2,879*, creating a total prize pool of $863,700.*  The payout structure has not yet been released, but will be posted Sunday before the start of Day 2.

A combined total of 462 players survived their starting flights to bag chips.  They will return to the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Ballroom at 1pm Sunday for Day 2.  Average stack will be 124,600 (31 big blinds) when play resumes with Level 16, Blinds 2,000/4,000/500 ante.

A complete list of returning Day 2 players with chip counts and seat assignments will be posted Sunday morning.

The overall chip leader heading into Day 2 is Mark Spies (Parkland, FL).  Mark played Flight E at 11am Saturday and bagged 494,500 chips, (124 big blinds) more than any other player in any starting flight.  Second in chips is David Hass, (Del Ray, FL) who bagged 491,500 at the end of Flight D.

The most notable player in the field today was 2006 WSOP Main Event winner Jamie Gold.  He survived 15 levels of play to bag 71,000 (18 big blinds).

Another WSOP bracelet holder in the field was David Diaz.  He tried a couple of times, but was unable to bag chips.  2008 WPT Ladies Champion Nancy Todd gave it a shot, but also left empty handed.

Despite entering numerous times, Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year points leader Angel Vu was not able to make it to Day 2.  She was not alone as WSOP bracelet holder Marsha Wolak (3rd in points) and Mukul Pahuja (5th in points) also failed to advance.

When Day 2 gets underway Sunday, levels will increase to 40 minutes long for the remainder of the tournament.  Stay tuned to SHRPO.com for Live Updates on the action throughout the day.
