Ted McNamara opened the cutoff to 250,000, and Julian Roman three-bet shoved for about 600,000 in the small blind. In the big, Michael Johnson re-shoved with his big stack, putting McNamara to the decision for the 2,700,000 or so he had behind. McNamara spent a couple minutes considering, long enough that he felt the need to apologize. Eventually, he surrendered, saying, “This is probably the nittiest fold ever, but…”
With McNamara out of the way, Roman was heads-up for his tournament life.

McNamara was less than thrilled to see Johnson’s marginal holdings, but he no doubt felt better once he saw the flop. “I’m the best!” he said. The turn left Roman drawing dead to the river, which completed the board meaninglessly. Johnson won the pot with deuces full, eliminating Roman in 38th place.
Michael Johnson – 4,700,000 (39 bb)
Julian Roman – Eliminated in 38th place ($3,688)
