Yordan Petrov Doubles
Yordan Petrov (left) doubles up, knocking his opponent (foreground, right) down to just two chips.

During hand-for-hand play on the Money Bubble, and with the final board showing Ks10s3dQsKc and about 80K in the pot, Yordan Petrov bet 114,000 from the hijack, and the player on the button moved all in for 170,000.

Petrov thought for a while before calling all in for 168,000 with 10d10c for a full house, tens full of kings. His opponent turned over Kd2d for trip kings, and Petrov wins the pot to double up in chips, knocking the short stack down to less than a single small blind.

Yordan Petrov  –  415,000  (83 bb)
Short Stack  –  2,000  (<1 sb)

Short Stack Doubles on Money Bubble
Even though his ace-five was dominated, the short stack (right) flopped a five to stay alive against Yordan Petrov (standing, left).

Since he was the button on that hand, the short-stacked player could play four more hands for free before being forced all in from the big blind on his fifth hand.

Four hands later, he called all in under the gun for 2,000. The player in the cutoff limped for 5,000, and Petrov raised from the small blind to 30,000. The cutoff folded, and Petrov took the side pot.

The short-stacked player turned over Ac5h, but he was dominated by Petrov’s AdQc.

The board came 6h5c2s9c2c, and the short stack paired his five on the flop to win the pot and sextuple up in chips to 13,000.

Short Stack  –  13,000  (3 bb)
Yordan Petrov  –  450,000  (90 bb)

Short Stack Eliminated on Bubble by Yordan Petrov
Yordan Petrov (left) shakes hands with the short stack after knocking him out of the tournament on the Money Bubble.

The next hand, the short stack was in the big blind, and if he folded this hand, he would be forced all in from the small blind on the next hand.

Petrov raised from the button to 10,000, and the short stack called all in for 8,000 (5K of his stack went toward the big blind ante).

The short stack needed his Kd2c to hold up against Petrov’s 9s6d to stay alive.

The board came Ah9d5d2s3s, and Petrov won the pot with a flopped pair of nines to eliminate the short stack in 20th place on the Money Bubble.

Yordan Petrov  –  465,000  (93 bb)
Short Stack  –  Bubbled in 20th Place  ($0)

With 19 players remaining, the average chip stack is about 157,000 (31 big blinds), and the remaining players are guaranteed at least $4,470 each.
