WSOP Circuit Event 2 champion Ron Levy

The second event on the Seminole Hard Rock WSOP Circuit schedule was a fast-moving affair that was designed to keep things moving. The $365 Turbo No Limit Hold’em tournament attracted a big field to close out the first weekend of the series and South Florida’s Ron Levy was the last player standing to collect a WSOP Circuit ring along with more than $20,000 for the title.

The event was structured and scheduled so that players missing out on Day 2 of the massive opening event had an opportunity for some action in a tournament that would finish in one day. The turnout was great and a total of 295 entries were in the game when registration closed.

They combined to create a prize pool worth $88,500 with the last 30 players earning some money. They took a dinner break at the midpoint of the tournament and then quickly played down to the money bubble after their return. It took a few hands to get there, but the final 30 players were guaranteed some money in the early evening.

There were some notable players making it into the money including SHRP regulars AJ “Doc” Santos and Alexander Dvorsky along with former SHRP champions Matthew Silva and Sagi Zommer.

Christopher Perkins had the unique accomplishment of cashing in two different tournaments on the same day. He finished in 76th place in Event 1 for $1,741 then hopped into the Event 2 field and took 20th place for another $913.

Spencer Champlin has been on a nice roll and picked up his ninth cash since going deep in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Big 4 $1,100 event. He made it to the ten-handed final table but tenth was as far as he could make it.

Seminole Hard Rock Tampa regular Anthony Dianaty dropped out in ninth place and they followed him out at a steady pace. The tournament only slowed when Levy went heads up with Ariel Rosello for the title.

Rosello began the heads up match with a lead but Levy moved into a dead heat after his Ah5c outflopped Ad9h. The two went to battle and it was Levy coming away with the title after a 30-minute battle.

It was another close call for Rosello. This was his ninth SHRP final table appearance and his closest call since finishing third in 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Event 25.

For his part, Levy worked his way through a tough field in a structure built to create action. The retired accountant won a title back in 2011 but now he is in the unique club of those who own WSOP Circuit jewelry. Levy earned $21,238 for the title along with the WSOP Circuit ring and custom-framed winner’s photo from IMPDI.
