$350 Buy-In Black Chip Bounty No Limit Hold’em (Single Re-Entry)
Level 19: 3,000/6,000/1,000 Ante
If Medhi Belhassan comes back to win Event 4, he’ll be able to credit what will stand out as one of the most talked-about hands of the series.
Belhassan lost a pot leaving him with only 4,000 chips. After two double-ups, Belhassan found himself all-in against three callers – Kenny Bhakta, Andre Crooks and Yuan Shen.
The hand was checked down on the flop and turn but on the river after checks from Bhakta and Crooks, Shen bet out into the dry pot. Bhakta was furious and exposed his hand – which would have been the winner. But Brooks had not made a decision so Bhakta had shown his hand prematurely. Brooks folded and Shen then said “I hope nine high is good” showing .
Bhakta cursed again and in the meantime Belhassan had made a pair and won the hand quadrupuling up in the process.
In the aftermath, Belhassan had gone from 4,000 to over 120,000 and Bhakta was given a one-round penalty. Shen may have realized his mistake too late but the damage was done. Belhassan is now once again contending to win Event 4 and Shen may never bet into a dry pot again.
