The six finalists in Event 7 ($350 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em) returned for an unexpected third day of play in the tournament after a chop agreement could not be reached late the night before. The three players that fell at the final table last night were Bryce McVay (ninth), Hollander Preap (eighth), and Patrick Hughes (seventh). The final nine players had emerged from an overall field of 953 players, but the final six would have to play a little bonus time to decide the big prize money in the tournament.
The most notable player remaining was the first to fall on Thursday, when Stuart Patterson busted out in sixth place. He was followed to the rail by Ory Hen in fifth place, and the final player to bust out during a hand of poker in the tournament was Nigel Murray in fourth place.
Murray was all in with J-9 but he was up against the 4-3 of David Klein, which hit a home run when the flop fell 4-4-3. Murray was eliminated by the full house of Klein and then the final three players started to discuss a chop after Georges Boyadjian doubled up for the third time at the final table.
Allan Bieler had built a large chip lead during the play-down stretch today, so he was awarded the most prize money and the Seminole Hard Rock guitar pick trophy as the champion of the tournament. Klein was the runner up, and Boyadjian took third place.
“I could definitely use the money,” said Bieler with a laugh after he took down the tournament title. When asked about his approach at the final table, Bieler replied, “I was just trying to stay out of trouble and play solid hands, and I was lucky enough that the cards came my way.” Bieler also commented on the restless night of sleep he got before the final day of play, “It was a tough night’s sleep, I didn’t get home and get to sleep until 5 a.m. and I was up at 8 a.m. But it’s all good, I’ll sleep very well tonight.”
Bieler is a real estate agent in South Florida, but he does plan on playing more events during the tournament series, including the Main Event. “They’re great here, the staff here, the dealers are excellent, you couldn’t ask for a better venue to play at,” said Bieler when asked about what he enjoys about playing events here at the Seminole Hard Rock.
