(Hollywood, FL) — Jeffrey Trudeau, Jr. is the most recent Deep Stack Series champion following a victory in the $560 Deeper Stack at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Thursday evening. Trudeau, a resident of Orlando, defeated a 434-entry field nabbing the lion’s share of the $217,000 prize pool following a three-way chop with Joseph Duchman and Seminole Hard Rock regular Nigel Murray. The deal saw Trudeau pocket $49,148 along with a $1,650 seat in the Deepest Stack, Duchman $30,723 and Murray $27,108.

The sizable starting field was generated over the course of two starting flights. The opener drew 135 entries while the final installment added another 289. Late registration was available until the start of Day 2 and there were 10 additional entries in that time. In all, the restart saw 101 players jockey for one of 45 in-the-money finishes. Robert Hodson and Greg Baird were among the early standouts both generating 1,000,000-chip stacks quickly. They both ran deep, too. Hodson finishing 13th and Baird 15th.

Others in the money included Steve McKoy (19th, $1,345), Ory Hen (33rd, $1,194) and Almog Biton (37th, $1,085). Also earning a payout was Daren Stabinski. After a 48th-place finish in the $360 Deep Stack and a runner-up finish in the $150 Deep Stack, his 44th-place finish in the $560 Deeper Stack marked his third cash in as many events.

With 40,000 starting chips and 60- and 90-minute levels on Day 2, the restart came to a close at 2am with five players remaining and Trudeau in front. They returned the following afternoon and Victor Milian was quick to exit in fifth. At that time, the remaining four players talked chop. Bryan Emory, who sat second in chips and stood to pocket $31,628 (second-place money) if he took the deal, said no go and play went on. Unfortunately for Emory, he succumbed fourth and hit the rail with a $15,733 cashout. Trudeau, Duchman and Murray promptly recalculated the chop figures and agreed to the deal on the spot.

Trudeau is a 23-year-old professional poker player. The victory marked his seventh major win and moved him comfortably over $400,000 in career earnings.

On top of his cash prize, he earned a $1,650 seat in the Deep Stack Series headliner, the Deepest Stack. The tournament features a $300,000 guarantee, 50,000 starting chips and 40-, 60- and 90-minute levels.
