Michael Graffeo

Last year in this event, Michael Graffeo defeated a field of 1,509 entries earning better than $290,000 in the process. Back then, he was a recent transplant to South Florida and he’s had continued success in the 12 months since with a number cashes throughout the state.

Graffeo is in the Flight B action as the clock shows 214 entries early in Level 3.

WPTDeepStacks Day 1A: No Limit for Joel Harwood

Level 2: 50/100

Joel Harwood

Yesterday, Joel Harwood spent the early stages of tournament play jockeying for a title in the Omaha/8 event across the hall. He ultimately finished shy of a payday, and decided to give no limit a chance today.

Harwood, the father of pro Loni Harwood, is a regular on the Seminole Hard Rock felt and has enjoyed a good amount of success. Among his two tournament wins was a title here in 2016 when he won a $200 HORSE event during the Everglades Poker Open.

WPTDeepStacks Day 1B: Field Flocking In

$1,100 WPTDeepStacks NLH (Single Re-Entry)
$1,000,000 Guaranteed | Structure
Level 1: 25/50
Flight B Entries: 147 (Total Entries: 516)

Yesterday’s Flight A began the WPTDeepStacks Season 5 Hollywood Main Event in a big way with 369 entries. A good chunk of those were satellite entries, and today’s play is off to a slightly more modest start, though still strong.

With the weekend underway, a number of players have flocked south and some new faces are in the action. One of those faces is that of Brian Reinert.

Brian Reinert

Reinert is a regular on the poker circuit and not one to miss a Florida series. Recently, he flew to Tampa from his home in Atlanta after seeing a monster turnout at our sister property there. He couldn’t find a cash, but hopes to use his entry in today’s Flight B as an opportunity to add to his more than $560,000 in reported earnings.

Seniors: Checking Birthdays

$300 Seniors 50+ No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Structure
Level 1: 25/50

The second day of the 2018 Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open will award the second trophy of the series later today. Some players will be concentrating on the WPTDeepStacks event in the ballroom but some of the elder generation will be battling it out in the Seniors event across the hallway.

The LHPO Seniors event has a $300 buy-in and is only open to those who are 50 years or older. They will be checking IDs at the registration desk for those trying to increase their age to play, so don’t get frisky.

Entrants will begin with 10,000 stacks and play 30-minute levels during the tournament. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 at 3:30 pm and there will be a dinner break following Level 12 at 5:30 pm.

When all is done, we will crown our second LHPO champion of the series and a very happy senior.

  • Players begin with 10,000 in chips and 30-minute levels
  • Late registration/re-entry available until start of Level 9
  • This is a one-day tournament and plays until completion
  • Event 3 Structure Sheet

Much of our live reporting efforts will be concentrated on Flight B of the WPTDeepStacks. As far as the Seniors, we’ll provide updates when registration closes, when the 10-handed final table is reached and post the final results and a winner photo after the event concludes.

WPTDeepStacks Day 1B: Second Flight Set to Fly

$1,100 WPTDeepStacks NLH (Single Re-Entry)

Level 1: 25/50

One flight is in the books for the WPTDeepStacks opening event on the 2018 Seminole Hard Rock Lucky Hearts Poker Open schedule and the second is set to roll at the top of the hour.

Flight A drew 369 entries to the $1,000,000 Guarantee, $1,100 buy-in tournament to put the field on pace to reach the seven-digit prize pool mark. It should be another great turnout with a massive number expected on Saturday.

Tournament players sit down to 25,000 starting stacks and the tournament runs 40-minute levels from start to finish. Late registration is available until the start of Level 10 after a one-hour dinner break with players limited to a single re-entry option if they bust out.

Flight B will continue through 15 full levels with all survivors joining the 68 from Flight A for Day 2 on Sunday at noon. Cards fly at 11 am and we’ll be here all day long.
