Players are dropping, tables are breaking, and Hughes has run good on his side while looking like the current leader with a huge stack worth 1,410,000.

James Carroll

We don’t know exactly what happened at Table 16, but we know there was a bit of a commotion as a (clearly) eliminated player was not happy with the outcome of a hand.

The aftermath had James Carroll stacking up to 711,000 while his opponent accepted his payout card. After further investigation, it looks like the former WPT Showdown Champ caught a two-out river for set-over-set.

Event 1: Ryan Hogan Doubles Through Jack Nathan

$600 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)

Level 17:  3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 ante

Ryan Hogan

With about 75K in the pot, the flop came Ad5c4c and Ryan Hogan bet 30,000 from the big blind. Jack Nathan three-bet moved all in and Hogan thought for two minutes before he called at risk.

Hogan: Ah6h
Nathan: KcQc

Hogan was ahead with his paired ace but needed to dodge the club draw of Nathan. The Js turn gave Nathan 12 outs to the river but Hogan faded the Qd to double.

Ryan Hogan – 210,000 (35 bb)
Jack Nathan – 224,000 (37 bb)

Level 16:  3,000/5,000 with a 5,000 ante
Players Remaining:  305 of 2,784

Richard Alsup

With the flop reading AdKs9s, Richard Alsup moved all in for his final 30,000 from the small blind. Jessica Beyrer called from middle position and Javier Figueroa checked his cards on the button. He moved all in for a similar stack as Beyrer; she thought for a minute and called for the three-way all-in.

Figueroa: AhQc
Beyrer: AsQd
Alsup: AcTs

Alsup was in a lot of trouble with the smaller ace and could not find a save as the board finished with the Jd and 3s. He was eliminated in 306th place while Figueroa and Beyrer chopped the pot.

Javier Figueroa – 210,000 (42 bb)
Jessica Beyrer – 204,000 (41 bb)

Event 1: Anibal Pabon Eliminated by Kelly Black

$600 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry)
Prize Pool:  $1,447,680  |  Structure  |  Payouts
Level 15:  2,000/4,000 with a 4,000 ante
Players Remaining:  345 of 2,784

Anibal Pabon

Action folded to Anibal Pabon in middle position, he moved all in for 38,000 and Kelly Black called from the button.

Pabon: AdKh
Black: QdQs

Pabon found a great hand for his short stack, ran into a classic race against queens, and took the lead when he paired his ace on the As9h2s flop.

“I never win these,” Black laughed.

The 8s turn made half the table say “uh oh,” and Black made a spade flush on the Ts river to send Pabon out early on Day 2.

Kelly Black – 238,000 (60 bb)
Anibal Pabon – Eliminated in 346th Place ($1,040)
