On Monday night, Long Nguyen outlasted a field of 144 entries to win $12,040 and his second Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood trophy in four months. (Nguyen won a Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo event back in July during SHRPO.)
“It feels really good,” said Nguyen.
“I came in as the shortest stack,” said Nguyen about the final table. “I folded for a while, and then I just ran good at the end, honestly. About four handed I started catching cards, and it worked out for me.”
“Kevin [Ruscitti] and Matt [Bretzfield] were my only two worries,” said Nguyen. “If I could fade them, I thought I was going to win.”
As it turned out, Bretzfield and Ruscitti were the final two hurdles Nguyen needed to cross, with Bretzfield busting third and Ruscitti finishing as the runner-up.
Nguyen is a regular here at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood for the big tournament series, so what keeps him coming back?
“The staff is great,” said Nguyen. “They run a good tournament, with big fields.”
